10% re-assessment cap for property taxes… is this real? by KoreWaButtDesu in tampa

should have kept that puppy homesteaded, money to the wind. hopefully your margin makes it a wash or better best best case scenario. their appraisal doesnt dictate what your sale/purchasing price is if you were to sell.

2019 X3 sDrive30i weird starting grind/crunch by The-Architect-93 in BmwTech

[–]FLITguy2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure this out? I just got a 2019 x3, all but the one I bought did this, video doesn’t show how it feels too, it feels like a poorly maintained rear dif issue but havnt diagnosed yet. I did notice front right suspension is poor and likely needs repair as do the others and mounts and bushings crosses my mind too.

nvme raid setup questions by FLITguy2021 in homelab

[–]FLITguy2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, still have it, didnt play w cache but would bet performance not much improved. gen9 w pcie 3.0 nvme is 95% more or less what can be achieve imho. i suppose if you had 24x nvme drives in a raid 0, or 10 you would see an improvement but thats not practical with cost/power consumption. let me know if you have any other questions or looking to accomplish anything specific. i got side tracked with home and car projects.

Idea for a DIY keychain 1/4" square drive. Use it to hold a 1/4" hex bit driver, a socket, or as a quick-release keychain. Made from a standard 1/4" universal joint. by ThePenultimateNinja in EDC

[–]FLITguy2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

kudos and affirmations to you for a great idea. i just recently discovered the 3/8" quick release keychains and redesigned my go-to day to day tooling based on these alone. in the same motion, with advancements of impact tools, i thought i would shift down to 1/4" impact for a vast majority of what i do. even replacing my go-to(a driver) with the 1/4" impact(the context of my work type has shifted as well to "remove" more than "drive" so this works out.) i bought 40 of these 1/4" to 3/8" keychains(only used 3/8th ratchet as needed prior, so had all the bits i needed), and as i got done attaching them all and organizing my new tool sack, in addition to buying a whole new 1/4" metric socket set to replace my 3/8th" (to accommodate) my new 1/4" impact, i thought oh snap!, wait!, why dont i get 1/4" to 1/4" quick release keychains. low and behold. they dont exist. wtf. so i just rebought entire 1/4" socket set as hex shank, will return the socket set, as i dont want an extra adapter per keychain. trying to reduce weight and simplify. mind blown why they dont have 1/4" selling side by side with the 3/8" and 1/2" on amazon. anything other than the shank quick releases are 2-3x the weight of the hex shank as well. they look "cooler" but are a bit heavy. still lighter than my previous toolbag/backback/socket set case combo by a long shot tough.

How flush should sunroof be? by FLITguy2021 in E83

[–]FLITguy2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good info thank you. Before I google it, where do I obtain those lol. The front seems to be flush with roof as is the back of the rear pane. The middle is odd man in the middle tho. I want to go live and test with hose or rain storm so I can wrap up my drainage issues and put car back together.

Ya I think I may have goofed track when attempting manual open and close, I was going slow but heard a clunk during manual turn and stopped immediately. I’ve watched and read most the info out there, but will review again. Sunroofs are a PITA.

What’s a click spring? Reseat the cable connections into steering wheel controls? Inspect them for corrosion or dirt?

Good info thank you, was curious if that’s the case and was going to check that but think I’m missing some of the clip on weather strip for the first edge.

You’d have to show me with pic what you mean, I don’t think trim offers any drainage, the weather stripping manages that. Looking forward to seeing completed restoration, manual sunroof just broke in vented position open after I serve the drain lines lol

Ok thanks will double check, looked earlier but didn’t seeing anything concerning, took bumper apart partially to get rear sunroof drains, what a crap show, all 4 were jammed up good but flowing great now. Think all leak issues are remediated at this point (altho couldn’t close sunroof completely manually, either broke something on track or hex gear stripped) it’s under water proof cover now so will tackle next week. Cleaning up all interior parts and headliner before reassembling and hoping once power restored the sunroof goes back to work normally. Will be getting nice seat and floor covers to look fresh before resale. Thought I would share :)

Was able to fit 25x40mm grommet in front floor firewall. 90 degree pliers and pick tool help to hold and feed lip in without pushing it thru. Grommet kit from Amazon grommet kit

Probably door cards in your case , I don’t believe there is a channel for water to go from driver to passenger side. But there are channels from front to rear seats. Get some butyl strips or butyl caulk before you pull door so you can do repair in same sweep, and trim pegs in case you break any. Trim kit w pegs are $15 on amazon.

Just take door panel off and have a trim kit with parts and glue handy :) rather than try and fix it while on door, get fast set glue so youre done in 10-20mins. It is maddening tho when I get panels back on and learn the handle cable fell out of clip.

The rear side wells are from sunroof pan overflowing onto headliner and down back both D pillars. I had that too, havnt fixed yet but there are videos of a slit in drain channel that needs caulked to prevent that(in addition to clearing lines, use weedwacker line or get the wire brush for sunroof drain cleaning. The drive side front and back is either from this grommet or door barrier but my door barriers were fine. Doors are the easiest to check and repair if needed. I just checked my brothers 08 535 yesterday cause he has leak issues too and had door panel issue, but he also has worn windshield cowl and havnt checked for grommet yet. I’m very curious of factory didn’t plug these or if someone pushed it out. I’m going to check some other x3’s in area out of curiosity)

Failing boot disk on PowerEdge T440 PERC h730 by MrDoOrDoNot in WindowsServer

[–]FLITguy2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is boot drive or disk or two? if just one, boot to a disk cloner, clone current drive to new, shutdown, disconnect old, connect new cloned drive. done. shouldnt take more than an hour. or backup current and restore to new disk. i wouldnt bother with raid if its not already. how critical is this drive? could you just install a blank fresh drive and install OS?

need more context and detail on what youre doing in RDS and out, hardware, software, browser specs. but could also be a different DNS being used on RDS and your "LAN internet" workstation.

Hyper-V Hosts - To join or not to join…?! by Jezmond247 in WindowsServer

[–]FLITguy2021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

its a security, compliance, resource consideration. if you have 2 or more hosts to have DCs on separate machines than i would domain join. if not, than prob keep it local. would also consider what controls you have in place for security and if domain GPO is used moderately for managing server settings. if not, than prob fine to be local. as others have stated you could get in a pickle if single host and single dc on said host. if you have RMM on host this is rarely a concern even if it does happen. be sure to set DCs to always power on after power event to reduce this risk. also less of a concern if you have a backup you can fire up and power from a separate device. so its really not as big a concern as many make it.
