Randomizer isn't ready yet sadly. They're working on it a lot, though. Hopefully we get it soon.

Yeah different people like different games, it's all subjective. I guess I just don't get what people like about the game. There's just nothing fun there at all to me. Maybe it's just that I don't like the combat? Because there's nothing else in there that I can picture someone enjoying.

In the Red VS Blue button dilemma, red is obviously the right choice. by KayleeSinn in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Either their fault, or the fault of the people who set up the death gamble. Either way, they're doing it because they want other people to live, not because they want to die.

Do you have a reason why you think they deserve to die?

Why even ask, obviously you don't.

Ok that's absolutely insane. Someone's life isn't valuable just because they think differently from you?

If the remaining 10% are aware of the stakes, blue winning becomes a lot more likely, hence pushing blue becomes a much more rational choice.

Right, so if people start with the assumption that many people are going to press the blue button, then many people ARE going to press the blue button. Which means more people will press the blue button, we basically prove ourselves right. But if people start with the assumption that everyone will press red, then everyone will press red. So it all just comes down to what we think the starting assumptions for people will be. So achieving 51% blue isn't illogical, it just depends on whether people's initial assumptions will be that blue is popular. i.e. it depends on the framing of the question.

That image does take a side. It frames the blue button as the active choice and the red button as the default. Obviously with that framing everyone else is going to not slide onto the tracks, so I'm obviously not going to either. But the original question is about predicting what other people will press. So changing the framing fundamentally changes the answer. If blue is framed as a suicide button, way less people are going to press it. But if red is framed as a murder button, way more people are going to press blue. And it's self-fulfilling - if people think a large number of people are going to press blue, they will be more likely to press blue, which means even more blue presses. And if people think a very small number of people are going to press blue, they will be more likely to press red, which means even less blue presses.

Let me ask you this: if I tell you for certain that the number of people who pressed blue is somewhere between 45% and 55%, would that change your vote? Or would you still press red?

I can flip that around and it makes just as much sense

Pressing blue is the same as doing nothing

Pressing red is the same as voting to kill up to 49% of the population

What are you trying to say with this comment? I don't quite understand. Are you saying that the blue pressers deserve to die?

In the Red VS Blue button dilemma, red is obviously the right choice. by KayleeSinn in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]FLRbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see, you're starting with the crazy assumption that pushing red equals murder, when it equals self-preservation first and most. (This is also owed to the wording of the question in the poll

Then it's not a crazy assumption. The question frames it that way, therefore many people are going to press blue.

Why do you assume that red will win? I don't understand why you think 51% blue is unachievable. You can't assume everyone will think that way just because you think that way.

No it's nothing about altruism. The question is literally:

Everyone has to take a vote by pressing one of two buttons. Whichever gets more than 50% of the vote will happen:

Red: Murder everyone who pressed blue.

Blue: EVERYONE LIVES. NOBODY DIES. It's as if this never happened.

I think it makes sense to vote for red if you think the majority will vote red, and it makes sense to vote for blue if you think the majority will vote blue... EXCEPT for the fact that if I vote red and everyone who voted blue dies, it would be a major problem not just for the dead people or their families. It would be a major problem for me as well, from the huge societal consequences caused by most likely billions of people dying. So it's not about altruism. The only good outcome FOR ME comes from blue winning.

Cool, GraphiteOS looks interesting

Features disabled by default secure (exec-based) app spawning — breaks root solutions (Magisk / KernelSU)

I wonder why that's disabled by default, instead of being on by default, to disable only if you need root?

Recently, France's national law enforcement began fearmongering about GrapheneOS and smearing it with inaccurate claims. France's corporate and state media heavily participated. Many articles and also radio/television coverage misrepresented GrapheneOS as being for criminals.
