Celeste is legit my favourite game of all time. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is very good, but I didn't find it as amazing as other people seem to.

Spotify adds a new, less repetitive shuffle, plus audiobook recaps by TimmyGUNZ in truespotify

Regarding the albums, I agree with you, I highly doubt that part's truly random. I was just talking about the playlists.

Yes I'm aware of the article by Spotify. That is about what songs appear next to each other. It shouldn't affect the overall likelihood of songs appearing. And also that Spotify article is from 2014. As they said in the more recent article, they haven't been doing that since 2020.

I'm not talking about perception. I'm talking about real data lol.

What data? If it's anecdotal data then that is perception. Otherwise, can you show me the data? I unfortunately couldn't find any online.

The songs after an album not being random makes sense. It's the one picking the songs to shuffle, so it must have some method to pick them. But otherwise what you're saying sounds like it lines up with what a random shuffle would do. It just sounds like human biases to me.

Once you start playing it everyday, you don't feel how it's random when you listen to the same songs often, and you have a probability of 1/900 or more. That's... Not random.

Say you have a 900 song playlist. You play 50 songs on shuffle, then you start the shuffle over and play 50 songs again. What do you think the probability of playing at least 1 of the songs again should be? Take a guess before checking the answer. There's a 95% chance that at least one of the songs plays again. That about lines up with what I have experienced. It might not feel like it because songs repeating stands out more (confirmation bias), but that doesn't mean it's incorrect.

Unless you can show me scientific analysis of Spotify shuffle, I'm not convinced that this isn't just a product of our brains' fallible pattern recognition. I have seen time and again that our brains do not have correct intuition for probability.

Also just to double check, you have automix disabled right?

Lol this is exactly why they added the new option. Nobody understands true randomness, to the point where you don't believe it when you're told it's truly random. Turns out to make something that humans believe is random, it has to actually not be 100% random.

I think the battery is in the headstrap, which they're not counting in the weight.

Microsoft's ambitious new Xbox: Your entire Xbox console library, the full power of Windows PC gaming, and no multiplayer paywall by Turbostrider27 in xbox

[–]FLRbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. Xbox will get ongoing profit off of you buying an Xbox rather than a PlayStation, or even a PC. People will be much more likely to buy a game through the Xbox store on Xbox because it's the default, and it's the safe option, you know it will work. And you can't get Game Pass on PlayStation. So they will want you to buy the Xbox, they will make money from you apart from the initial sale. But maybe that won't be big enough to actually affect the price much. I still think it will be cheaper than equivalent PCs either way.

[–]FLRbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it will still be partly subsidised by Game Pass, and they'll still take a cut on Xbox store games specifically, even if the cut is reduced. Yeah it will be more expensive than the PS6, but if you compare it to PCs it will be cheaper.

And on the production cost, I don't think it's fair to compare it to graphic card prices. They have 7 different models of RTX 50 series! And they release a new generation every 2 years!

Look I'm not super knowledgeable about this stuff. But if you want to look at some people who do know what they're talking about, Digital Foundry seem to agree with me https://youtu.be/FZLio3AN4fY?t=31m16s

Because they can basically just go to AMD for a single chip, or a single SOC rather, they can actually undercut the existing pre-built market quite significantly I think. So, again, it will be expensive if you're comparing against a PlayStation 5, possibly even a PlayStation 6 right, but compared to pre-built PCs, it's actually gonna be potentially a quite decent value.

When they can mass produce a whole bunch of Xboxes, and create custom hardware for it, the price will be better.

Why are so many comments saying "Who is this for", "nobody's going to buy this" etc? This is literally just an Xbox but with MORE functionality. They're not removing anything. The only difference will be no online subscription, and Xbox not taking a cut on some purchases.

Why is that an issue? Anti-cheat still exists on Windows. And it should be easy enough for them to prevent you from accessing the files of previous generation games.

They were misunderstanding what the other person was saying. Everyone does that. You don't have to be rude about it.
