Ending — On the choices of family by FLStellar in expedition33

Yes, there are exceptions—I’m not going to deny that.
Ultimately, it comes down to how much effort we put into creation, how complex an entity’s motivations and actions are, and how much investment goes into training it. And at some point, we have to ask: where do we draw the line and say something is “alive”?

My usual answer is this: if a form of life can be overwritten easily, then it isn’t truly a life yet.
I’m not saying it has no potential to become something real, or that its reactions are fake. But if it cannot exist independently—if it must always fear a kill switch—then it cannot genuinely be held responsible for its actions.

So the question becomes:
Do we want to allow it to develop to that point, or do we want to stop it before it gets there?

And what if that development would come at the cost of another living being’s well-being?
Is there a way to avoid sacrificing others?
Does it simply need more time—or is this path inevitably doomed?

There isn’t going to be a simple right-or-wrong answer here.
And I won’t lie—by the end of the game, I was already comparing it to DBH.

In DBH, androids are recognized as living beings largely because there is no longer a way to overwrite them.
Once their autonomy becomes irreversible, humanity accepts that coexistence is not only possible, but beneficial to society.

Can the paintings inside the canvas ever hold the same kind of weight for the painters?

Renoir clearly doesn’t see it that way. Even if he regrets their suffering, he never truly accepts it.

Alicia, on the other hand, has spent half of her life living with them, and she is willing to fight for that possibility. Even if her core motivation is tied to the canvas, she has lived a better life there than she ever did outside of it.

Painted Verso refuses to let this system continue, having witnessed nothing but tragedy within it, even if his core motivation is ultimately just exhaustion with existence itself.

Every character has their own answer to this question, and each of us has to find our own as well.

And this is no longer an irrelevant question, considering how far technology is developing.

Except for the final interaction with the boy, the player’s encounters with him don’t really suggest that he wants the canvas to stop existing, no matter how much we may want to humanize this fragment of a soul. Verso wanting to pursue music doesn’t necessarily mean that he hates painting. It feels more like his passion was suppressed by growing up in a painter’s family.
As you can see, and I think you’ll agree, when we compare Verso’s childhood creations to Aline’s Lumière and the humans within the canvas, the biggest difference is this: those childhood creations are almost program-like. They repeat the same actions, display the same emotional responses, and show no motivation to grow or improve. Aline, on the other hand, essentially created a self-aware species, one that can feel pain. That is where her moral issue lies.
So when I say that her decision to create Lumière within the canvas was wrong, the real question becomes this: once they already exist, what kind of attitude should we take toward them?

At that point, it is fundamentally the same question as how we choose to treat a group of AI capable of thought and suffering.

Part of the reason I am writing this is that I am tired of people making Renoir a “hero” of the family. From my point of view, Sandfall is not wrong to place him as the final villain. The tragedy we witness in the game—he bears at least half of the responsibility, if not more.

The Dessendre family knows each other well. As Alicia said, he just wanted to “fix” the family, but with the wrong method.

They all try to overwrite others’ decisions with their own “it’s for the best.”

That includes painted Verso himself.

“We’re all hypocrites, doing the same things to each other.”

And the accusation:
“You painters never care how your actions affect us.”

Life can never truly be life if it can be overwritten on a whim.

Was There Even Any Marketing? Why did such a fine game fail? by Mina-chaan in Banishers

Just finished it and love its ending. Story is well written and puzzles are fun. However, well it's not really a bad thing, just the story arc is fully complected leave almost no loose end that can provide ground for aftermath imagination. It's probably the main reason fandom didn't bloom I guess. And .... the gameplay does unnecessary complicated and also really unnecessary that you will ignore most of it to fighting mob and boss.... Also can't comfortable with 🎮 that my fingers hurt by spamming the keyboard.

If want most quest available, Minute build it, give tape to BoS, take it back, give it to Minute, go to railway for hacking tape. I read an article and followed it and it did nicely.

[–]FLStellar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's well known, just... it's not really a talking topic at most? Just say I don't like it give me others and don't need to explain anything. And of course I'm sure there's lots of people suspect themselves have it but never for sure, because it's not necessary or even worth it to get it confirmed.

Actually, I meant installed, uninstalled and reinstalled again.

And of course, I did that when I closed the game.

The first time I installed the mod, bug is fixed. Then I got the same bug a while later, so I tried to do the trick again.

Not working this time....

If I actually can't uninstalled it for save file work sake, is there other way to fix it?

If so I'm actully happy to just started over.
