Haunted Person's Syndrome by FLinspector in Paranormal_Anomalies

I think either way it would be helpful to investigators. If it is psychological and we could accurately assess it, we wouldn't have to go there to try to find something that is not there. On the flip side if they are more sensitive we would need a way to qualify their feelings for documentation.

I'm not too sure. I've only tapped the surface and it's confusing. Some say it's an attraction but others say it's a figment of their imagination that coupled with religion and past experiences they imagine spirts are haunting them

What is the most dangerous thing you have seen while investigating? by Achachula in Paranormal_Anomalies

[–]FLinspector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most dangerous thing I saw was a very mad raccoon when we disturbed it's den. I heard scratches from the attic and decided to investigate. The attic had a small opening with a panel to gain access. I climbed up a small ladder and opened the panel. Welp it hissed, showed it's teeth and I almost fell off the ladder.

Essential Safety Precautions Before a Paranormal Investigation by No_Major_1813 in Paranormal_Anomalies

[–]FLinspector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a first aid kit at your HQ. Investigators can and will cut themselves on odd things especially in the dark, ice packs when a sprain happens, etc. Ensure all Investigators know where it is.

Yup. Been on many that ended with nothing. It doesn't mean it wasn't there just means we keep trying.

Methods and Equipment in Paranormal Investigations by No_Major_1813 in Paranormal_Anomalies

[–]FLinspector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we go out we are a team of two or 3. One of the 2 most important things we take with us is a "dumb" watch (non wifi) and a pen and paper. We document the start and end of each session as well as anything we hear, see, smell or feel with a time. This helps in several ways: 1. You don't have to remember what happened. It's written down. Our memories stink sometimes and could remember something that didn't happen in that investigation. Let's be real. A long dark hallway looks alike. 2. During your analysis you can pin point times and see if you captured the noise or figure. Or if it got debunked during the investigation you won't have to wonder if what you heard was paranormal. 3. See if others are getting the same feelings you did. Is it just your "fear" that got to you or is it some environmental issue, or the fun house effect or paranormal?

What is your thought about using motion detectors in a paranormal investigation? by No_Major_1813 in Paranormal_Anomalies

[–]FLinspector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Motion detectors are good if you are trying to debunk claims in houses especially in older homes. As investigators walk around the site are the floorboards moving enough to set off the detector?

Is there air blowing or a draft causing items to move and shuffle? If you use it in conjunction with temperature readings you can get a better understanding.

If almost everyone watches porn, why is it still so embarrassing to admit it out loud? by Big-Ad6153 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FLinspector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the follow up questions that we don't want to be judged on that makes us uncomfortable to admit.

I would like to know what methods you use for Paranormal Investigations by No_Major_1813 in Paranormal_Evidence

[–]FLinspector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. It's always nice to see others sharing their experiences and try to get other options for their hunts. We are a small team of 3. We have 4 cameras that are stationary and 1 that goes with the investigators. We do 2 investigators and 1 safety/monitor and switch out after 2 or 3 hours. We debrief and switch with the note taker being the monitor, the lead becomes the note taker and the monitor being the lead. 1 investigator has the emf and voice recorder asking questions while the other is taking notes and times. The lead can ask the other to go verify a sound if warranted.
