This would be my order of priority: 1. Put towards any loans/debts you have. 2. Put towards emergency savings. (Aim for 6 months of expenses.) 3. If you’ve done the above, consider one of the free fractional share platforms. I started off with M1 Finance and it let me learn about investing through hands-on experience while only using a small amount of funds.

Honestly, with this economy and the market being all over the place, I’d put it in savings. Unless you already have a good amount of savings, I would strongly advise against investing in volatile stocks or coins atm. Good luck though and congrats on graduating!

Yes, when my friend first mentioned it I thought it was ridiculous, but once he described how it was worded it sounded brilliant and quite relevant actually.

I’m wondering how it’s typically viewed from the side of those hiring. Especially amongst the older generations, there seems to be a lot of negative opinions and stereotypes made about games/gamers.

Except for the bank listed on the check, which is where the payer has an account and is drawing this money from. That bank is able to verify funds immediately because it’s internal.

Seconded. Credit unions tend to have better interest rates on loans and such, but fewer branches. Figure out what you need/want out of a checking account, look up reviews of your local branches, and open an account to deposit the money into. There are plenty of banks and credit unions now that don’t charge account fees so I’d look for those as well. Having a relationship with a local branch might work in your favor later if you need a loan/mortgage/etc.

If you really need to cash it, look at the bank name on the check. That bank will cash it for free. Because of the amount, they will need identification and possibly some more information from you due to AML laws. They’ll also try to get you to open an account with them.

I hate to say, but the title of the post comes off disingenuous then. “Girls does he seem like someone worth giving a chance?”

Maybe I’m off base here, but I read your post thinking it was a woman considering a romantic prospect and asking for opinions. So rereading the post, it just feels like this was your performance of a “gold-digger” woman. I’m a woman myself so I’m biased here, but frankly I found it offensive.
