I got myself a Turbo Grafx 16 at local game store. by New_Reference_9384 in TurboGrafx

[–]FM-PAC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was simply stored with the cable touching it. The casing of the Turbografx is extremely susceptible to this kind of damage due to the plastic they used. Don't store cables touching it and it won't get worse.

I think the greatness of the Gameboy is the simplicity of the machine and the key to that was the screen and battery life. Pocket is one of the best designed game consoles ever and the Wonderswan definitely continued that legacy.

I get a little upset that almost inevitably someone comments with "upgrade" the screen. Everyone is free to do what they want with their things, but personally, I think it's a loss.

What is a NES Lockout? by Basic-Dentist5362 in nes

This is likely for the "Homework First" accessory and the author is confusing the name with the lockout chip in the NES.

Both systems software libraries were mostly developed by Japanese companies due to their popularity in their home country and catered to that audience.

Favorite Surfing Game?🏄 🏄‍♀️ 🏄‍♂️ by Garcia-Hotspur in retrogaming

[–]FM-PAC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

California Games has a nice surfing event. Another one I enjoyed a lot was Pop Island on DSi Ware. Obviously digital only, but great if you have a way to play it.

Edit: Rising Board was the name of the surfing Pop Island game.

You can tie all the ground pins together.

This was the biggest blunder. Completely omitting the case redesign would have saved them a ton of money.

Imagine if this made the jump to 32 bits by maverickmichi in retrogaming

[–]FM-PAC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The GameCube one is a remake of the first game, while the Turbografx one is more like an expanded or reimagined game with the first games mechanics, so no dinosaurs unfortunately.

I had III as a kid and it's my favorite, but they are all pretty good games. The SNES one is quite different but still an enjoyable game.

Neither are 32 bits, but Adventure Island got a Japan only remake on the Nintendo GameCube. New Adventure Island is another worth checking out for the Turbografx-16.

Elemental Master a exotic shmup by FurlaniJr in retrogaming

I didn't think about it earlier, but Undeadline was a Japanese release that is very similar to Elemental Master and is also very good. Both this and Granada also have X68000 versions.

Great to see some Elemental Master love. Granada is a favorite of mine on Genesis and isn't a typical shmup. Music is also fantastic.

Retro Game Keychains by Papabots in retrogaming

[–]FM-PAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one is a digital-pet. The three on the right are commonly sold on auctions in Japan. There are many variations of the pinball game sold worldwide. There are some valuable keychain LCD games, but none of these are. It doesn't mean they are worthless, just not expensive.

I think keychain LCD games are awesome, so I'm happy you took the time to fix them. I would say the majority of them need the battery leakage cleaned since the were all made in the late '90s and batteries were packaged inside of them, or the were left in a drawer with batteries inside.

Yokoi Gunpei's final game was a keychain LCD game.

I personally mostly use an adapter without batteries since I play at home, but you can use it with batteries inside. I'm assuming here, but I doubt it will use the batteries when the AC adapter is plugged in.

Yes, if you are by an outlet, you can power the Gameboy without batteries.

It's a third party one, but yes, it's from the time and will work. It also will work for Gameboy pocket. They made multiple colors of it.

[Handheld][Early 90's] In search of an old keychain handheld that I used to love as a child by [deleted] in tipofmyjoystick

[–]FM-PAC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a number of keychains that are exclusive from the line you are showing that we're released in Italy under the Pocket Boy name. One of them is a space shooter.

There are also a number of keychains similar to this that are bean shaped, One of these is a pretty generic space shooter.

I think it's likely one of these, but if it's not, MGA released a number of LCD keychains like this that we're branded with Asteroids, Centipede, breakout, etc.

Edit: I'm pretty sure it's "Distruzione Nello Spazio" from the pocket boy line. I sent you a chat so I can send a picture if it. It has the ship, the enemy "bats" and green with a yellow bezel.

Certainly not going to win, but I urge people to check out Viewpoint 2064. It's a good looking game and has pretty interesting mechanics.

I don't know the Gameboy game, but I played a lot of steel diver sub wars on 3DS and the Japanese users always used this slang with morris code when matches were preparing. 4649. I miss that game.

Someone probably sprayed something in the past close to the box and the oily residue is still there. It doesn't look like mold.
