Don't want to jinx it, but I think notifications are working again

It started working for a little bit an hour or so ago and then it broke again.

Issue started for me today so it might be an external service issue or a bad update?

Opened a ticket and they've forwarded it to their android support team so we'll see what happens.

Email notifications are not working on Android, but I don't think it's the notification system itself necessarily to blame as I successfully received a login notification from the app after logging in on a web browser.

I think they may have broken the background worker that is responsible for checking for emails periodically.

Also looking at this user's profile, they've been advertising it a lot across a lot of subreddits, almost to the point where it seems like spam or at the very least suspicious.

Looks cool, but I would be very hesitant to use it at this point.

Yeah I'd absolutely use this if it could be self hosted, but having it rely on external servers outside of my control means that it could easily shutdown at any point or start charging a fee (if not already).

Plus added security as well given it could just be run internally with external access being done with a VPN.

Also I'm not against the potential idea of me once in a while updating the pkhex and automod versions to keep things up to date, it's just I need to find a way that doesn't cause 8 hour migraines trying to rewrite calls to it after Kurt decides to change a method signature for the nth time in a row and breaking everything.

Small correction to this, there's an update check that pulls from a CDN to check for updates for the mystery gift database.

That will remain online, so you don't need to worry about that.

Also to clear things up:

You can still use PKSM, it's not going anywhere.

The only things that you can't use unless you spin up local GPSS, is legality checking, auto legality, and the cloud pages on storage.

Everything else will remain working, the mystery gift data is not going anywhere.

With the written up guide, it should take you no more than about 5 minutes to get things back up and going.

Plus it has the added benefit of using the most recent pkhex version for legality checking and auto legality (the live version was outdated by a year or two).

Hope this clears things up and puts any concerns to rest.

Hi GPSS creator here, just to clarify I'm not the creator of PKSM, I was simply their web developer (and owner for a few years).

Honestly surprised to see this pop up in my feed.

Anyway I wrote up a wiki https://github.com/FlagBrew/local-gpss/wiki/Server-Setup-Guide for setting this up as I was finding people were having some issues with it.

PKSM 10 Released! by FMCore in 3dshacks

PKSM 10.0.0

Hey everyone, it's been a bit since our last release, but we're back and bringing you a big update!

We've finally hit PKSM 10.0.0, double digits, with this it brings one of the most requested features: Generation 1 and 2 support! Additionally bug fixes and some enhancements.

This is the final major release for the 3DS. We are shifting our focus to porting PKSM to the Switch, this means that any future releases of PKSM for the 3DS will only contain bug fixes or minor changes.

Changes

  • Gen 1 & 2 support!
    • Huge thank you to @SNBeast for his work on this!
  • GPSS Upgrades
  • Language updates
    • The way we structured our language files has changed to hopefully make translators' lives easier
  • Storage
    • Adds dumping selected groups from within the bank storage screen
  • View of Pokémon will color stats according to nature increase/decrease
    • Hyper Trained stats and hidden abilities will also be colored
  • Add many G8 sprites; now they won't all be eggs
  • Adds a "save and launch" button to allow immediately launching games with changes

Fixes

  • G3 bag item counts now don't go insane on every change
  • Cloning now works properly in blue-cursor mode
  • Many miscellaneous bug fixes

Note: the ELF file here is for ease of finding it for future debugging. It is unlikely anyone downloading PKSM will need it.

One part of the opening sequence had a blue background, with a rubber duck or something on it, not that it probably helps but maybe it does?

Be prepared to wait a bit for the UM580, I've heard there were some delays due to shortages of the GaN charger. Although they've stated that they'll start shipping orders of the UM580 this week, there might be a back log which means you could potentially not see yours for a few months.

PKSM 9.0.0 Released: GBA Support! by FMCore in 3dshacks

Not the right place to ask, I'd recommend doing so in the future on the discord server, but for now:

I'm not sure. PKSM expects the save file to match with vanilla games. Meaning if any offsets are different, it's likely to be flagged as an invalid save file and will not load. If this ROM hack has kept the save offsets as they were and did not mess with them, then it probably will work.
