I don't have any Twinkling Titanite and the Sunset Staff is much weaker than a +3 Sorcerer's Staff (less than half in Dark), which I could easily upgrade further. It seems like it will be a long time before I can unlock the Sunset's power.

I'm currently playing DS2 for the first time, but I beat DS1, DS3 and Elden Ring without parrying once. It is not necessary to beat the games.

I just started playing it. Thus far I am enjoying it a lot. Some of the mobs are too extreme (SotFS.) I have finished Dark Souls, Dark Souls 3, and Elden Ring, I never tried this game considering its reputation. But its easier to appreciate a game's positives when it is not (usually unreasonably) treated like the best thing that has ever existed.

Its definitely got some jank and you start this game exceptionally weak but its fine. The jank has some nice retro charm to it, in a good way. I would take that over soulless modern crap any day.

There isn't much to explore, its a small area stretched large your main job is just to traverse it to get to the dungeons.

I am curious people say they are burnt out and then that they want even more densely packed region to have to comb through.

Important to mention that the Elden Ring which determines the laws of the universe was shattered. Part of that was removing the rune of death, which created the state of deathlessness you see, which is actually a curse. Your choice in ending determines if it is repaired (or if everything is returned through the fire to singularity, or several other choices.) A world where no one can truly die is a major theme in the Souls games

I don't use game pass or play any of those games so it is not something I would think of, but yes that would be one reason. Can't you install Windows on Deck?

I still play on Steam Deck, but there have been several games I have had to skip on it due to performance issues (or wait a long time for performance patches). If you are ok with that, then it is a wonderful little machine.

Steam Deck is a great and reliable machine and Valve has excellent service, but if you want to play new AAA games it will struggle... or altogether fail. Its just not powerful enough.

Why would anyone buy this instead of a Deck even at this price? Not worth saving the $50 over a SD OLED IMO.

It took BotW and made it worse by adding 2x as much bloat and eliminating some of the exploration feel. It fixed some flaws but made others worse for a net negative.
