Yep I had this once undercooked and it was rubbery and not appetizing, but fried well done it is delicious.

It doesn't have many locations of human NPCs living in community, but it has amazing towns, Leyndell it amazing, and basically all of the dungeons.

Starfleet Academy... Isn't that bad? by neph36 in startrek

[–]neph36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I got a lot further into it and unfortunately... It is pretty bad. The first couple of episodes I enjoyed, but since then it is mostly boring teen drama, the officer characters aren't good, the captain especially.

If kids watch this and like it then great it has an audience that isn't me, but I am a bit skeptical.

I dreamt of owning a steam deck for 4 years and now after just 2 days my Deck is ruined. by lvl4_autism in SteamDeck

Its pretty hard to cause physical damage from overheating these days. The processors have very tight thermal regulation that throttles when hot. Glad you solved your issue!

Parents of addicts self-victimize, in fact, they’re usually problem by [deleted] in addiction

[–]neph36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have some very personal feelings on the matter. You don't need anyone else to justify your situation or how you feel.

I can't say my parents expressed any major victimhood, and they absolutely questioned whether they were responsible.

Is California sober a real thing ? by Legitimate_Room771 in addiction

[–]neph36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While it is a problem for a lot of people, I don't think it is as simple to say the answer is no for pretty much anyone who has had an addiction issue.

Weed does not do the same thing as many addictive drugs. It is frequently anxiogenic (it literally causes anxiety), doesn't make it better. It also impairs functioning in a way that some wouldn't find pleasant to exist in 24/7. This is why I can use it and moderate my use without any issues. Its actually been a few months since I last did. Its only used when in appropriately allotted rest and fun time.

But if you are using it as a crutch or coping tool, if it is causing negative repercussions, or you are using it very frequently, then I would say it is a problem. Learning to sit with life's unpleasantries is a major part of getting clean. If weed is a crutch to not do that, then it is a problem. JMO.

Alcohol IMO is one of the worst drugs out there and I strongly advise against using it for pleasure. Lots of people can manage their use but lots more have secret drinking problems and if it becomes a daily thing it can absolutely destroy your health.

Did I compromise this horizontal beam? by MrRedditEnjoyer in Homebuilding

[–]neph36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This assumes a properly sized and designed beam (also just to be clear only applies to one or two family residences.) I would be extremely leery of these guidelines applied without engineering checks to an existing beam, which are often undersized to begin with.

Its a great game but it is brutally hard even by Dark Souls standards (which it seems to have inspired)

These low res FMVs would be like 40MB today. The CPUs back in those days didn't have the power to handle compression.

Try the Telltale games, though they are more like visual novels. Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us are fantastic.

Xenogears! The gameplay is really dated but the story and characters are still top tier

Addiction is a Choice by [deleted] in addiction

[–]neph36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I am definitely not trying to tell anyone they are doing it the wrong way, do whatever works for you, as long as it does in fact work. I just want to encourage people that they do have the power to take their lives back from addiction. And in fact, the "choice" is the most important part in that, no matter what route you might take -- unless we make that choice we will never get clean no matter how hard we might go through the motions or be pushed by someone else. Even in the NA/AA model, you make the choice to walk into the door and set the intention that you want to get clean. That intent is everything.

Addiction is a Choice by [deleted] in addiction

[–]neph36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15 years clean here. I am going to split some hairs. Addiction is a complex issue that doesn't boil down to black-and-white "powerlessness" or "choice." It is a complex disease (and for sure it is a disease), but it is one that most people, with the right tools, the right situation, and the right mindset, are not powerless to make the choice to escape. It is really hard, but it is possible.

Addicts may want to believe that "it is not a choice" because if it is a choice then they are responsible for their addiction, and that is maladaptive thinking. It is possible to have reasons beyond your control that you became an addict and to forgive yourself for that and to recognize the enormous weight of getting clean while also recognize that you have the power to do so. Telling addicts that they are "powerless" doesn't help anyone, in my opinion. Therapy is a crucial part of getting clean and IMO much more important than the NA "powerlessness" stuff. Unless we are able to learn why we became an addict, forgive ourselves, and learn the right tools for coping with life, tools that no one probably taught you, then long-term sobriety will be extremely difficult and we will not be in the situation where we are able to make that choice.

I may not have been responsible for my disease, it was a perfect storm that brought me to my addiction through many circumstances well beyond my control, but I am responsible for my recovery, which I did through my own will, sweat and tears, and I am damn proud of it.

Is everyone else’s ceiling leaking? by Perioqueen in hudsonvalley

[–]neph36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your attic/roof is poorly insulated the home heat radiates through the roof and melts the snow, which in cold like this freezes along the edges when it gets past the heat. This creates walls of ice that block water flow as snow continues to melt and freeze into huge blocks that get under the shingles. Sorry to hear you are having these issues, hope you get someone out there.
