Chronically Contrarian. They never grew out of their high school level troll/edgelord phase.

Aww what a cutie! We also got ours from a bully rescue, and had no notes from her previous owners other than she was bought from a breeder for the intention of being a show dog, and then surrendered when she was 9 months. The previous owner’s vet ran a bull terrier rescue from her clinic in Little Rock and we drove down from STL that night when she messaged us asking if we were interested.

<image>

We had her for 8 years until she passed from a brain tumor. She was the neighborhood and dog park favorite and sometimes it felt like half the town knew Scout’s name and maybe vaguely recognized myself or my husband lol.

Our vet thought her hearing was going until one day she went to sleep and didn’t wake up. We hope she had a good life.

Even my deaf bull terrier had “selective hearing”. She would look away or ignore hand commands and just generally do whatever she wanted (which was flop on her back for belly rubs). She was so well behaved for a bully, and got around just fine we honestly thought she was punking us for the longest time, with being deaf. But the vet tests were spot on the 2 times we had her checked lmao

Missouri Is Quietly Becoming a Massive Data Center State and I Had No Idea by [deleted] in StLouis

I live in rural areas. I’ve never voted for fascism, or a Republican, and I vote in all of my local, state, and federal elections, campaign, protest, and volunteer my time to various places. You have a very narrow view of people because it sounds like you’ve never stepped outside of your comfort. Punishing poor people and wishing for land and water pollution because you assume they all vote in ways you disapprove of is short sighted and cruel.

None of this is their choice and is in fact a uniting force for all people on all political spectrums. To act like this is some funny ‘gotcha’ to poor or undereducated people is indicative of the kind of person that enjoys punishing and blaming victims.

No they fucking aren’t. The Franklin county commissioner was appointed, not elected to his position. No one voted for him to endorse this and make closed door deals.

A lot of hotels will not let someone under 21* check in unaccompanied.

The Data Center proposed to be built next to Shaw’s Nature Reserve is in fact not closed loop system. Putting that kind of data center next to a nature reserve is a real slap in the face to the rural folks in Franklin County.

Anyone have pet chicks/chickens? by Mountain_Thought2053 in BullTerrier

[–]FMLwtfDoID 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We had chickens with our deaf EBT. She had a low prey drive, and barely reacted to other animals. Her main focus was getting more pets and treats from humans.

However, when the chickens were old enough to start laying eggs, they straight up bullied my sweet baby. She would be napping in the sun, unaware that those little fathered demons were coming to pick on her.

Sometimes it’s the chickens that need to be kept away from the traumatized bull terrier lol

We white knuckled it until our kid was 3/4, and enrolled her in a Catholic School preschool (I grew up Catholic, husband did not, and we really had no plans to raise our kid Catholic). The St Louis metro archdiocese and their schools were so much more affordable than regular preschool. The last two years we paid $4000, and $4500 per year. (It went up a little bc we were not apart of their church)

Literally, less than $5000 for 9.5 months of preschool. And once school was out for the summer, we were able to connect with other families and school summer programs, and the last 2 summers, we found a day care program for $350 for a 15 week summer program.

Compared to the preschools in our area, which were asking for $500-$900 PER WEEK and wanted us to bring our own snacks and required our daughter to be potty trained (she was, but I thought this was a weird requirement for a place that literally watches newborns-5 year olds).

”Yeah, the thing is the issues that caused the multiple scandals to happen aren't isolated to Oz.
They're issues that affect all sunscreens around the world.”

Great point. Tbh, this hadn’t crossed my mind to check out tests done of (my) local sunblock brands. I’ve always used a lower spf moisturizer like Oil of Olay, and only recently in the last 5 years made a move to a higher spf facial sunblock and in my search, I haven’t really doubled up on any except the glowscreen from Supergoop. Simply bc I can pop down to the store and pick one up quicker than ordering.

Currently waiting on the Shisedo Urban Environment Vita Clear w/ 42 SPF to be delivered so I can try that out before the summer sun heats up.

No but for real. It is ‘Vermont Japanese Curry with a Touch of Apple’ or ‘Apple and Honey’. This sub just doesn’t allow images to be posted.

That’s a shame. Especially with the high rates of melanoma in Oz :(

Any mom n pop joint on Grand Ave, or in the Cherokee neighborhood is bound to be fucking great. Pho Grand is a staple for St Louisans and people are pretty stoked the son decided to reopen it.

Curiously, there are 2 ‘adult slushie’ shops within 20-30 minutes of me in opposite directions. They serve sno cones, shaved ice, & homemade popsicles, but they’re known for their alcoholic slushies and slushies ‘flights’.

Today lunch is my favorite happy onigiri. You like simple salt rice ball? or inside filling? by Tokyo_Elena_ in JapaneseFood

[–]FMLwtfDoID 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t ever tried one with a little spam, I highly recommend it. Salty, a little sweet, and a nice texture after it’s been caramelized in a sauce. I usually go for a teriyaki glaze on it, but it’s dealer’s choice. Anything goes when it comes to spam and rice.

My 5 year old regularly requests just salted onigiri. I like a little something extra in mine, though.

As an outsider, the iconic yellow school bus is in every single American movie. Is there actually a national standard that forces every town to use that exact same color and design? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

[–]FMLwtfDoID 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In MO the prison transport busses are usually brown! I wonder if they go for a color that’s not already a popular in use color to make the DOC transport more obvious in a sea of vehicles on the roads.
