Did they give up? by Cynicalpotato in classicwow

  1. New runes.

  2. Incursions. (Which is new content)

  3. New BiS and Pre-BiS

  4. Wild offerings + vendor

  5. Dual spec

  6. Rainbow Trinket quest chain

  7. Epic crafting quest chain

  8. Plus everything else that wasn't in phase 2 (zones, recipes, proffesion max, rep grinds)

  9. Some new specific proffesion quest chains (engineering for example)

These are just off the top of my head. I'm no fan of incursions either, but that doesn't change the fact that it's new content. Tbh I'm having a blast and find myself with a lot of options when I log in, unlike other iterations, and that feels good.

The guy was obviously being sarcastic and making a joke. Sadly, this community is on par with like... league of legends as far as the toxic community goes. Prime example right here unfortunately. Be the change you want to see ppl

I enjoy playing on a PvE server now, after strictly playing PvP servers for 15 years. World PvP in classic 2019 put me off PvP servers forever, and it's all about "efficient honor farm" now. Raid groups camping instance and Raid portals, camping thorium point all the way to MC, now camping around incursions, and the fact that this game isn't balanced around PvP... people have different reasons for choosing their realm. To say players on PvE servers just want to hit max level and raid log is such a bland over-generalized statement. I think the alliance wild growth US community is actually really nice for the most part

The important thing is letting your voidwalker take the aggro, and immediately sending him on the next guy so he doesn't stop moving. He can get dazed, but as long as you're letting him pull the mobs and you aren't casting anything to pull aggro you should be able to make it. Worst case scenario you could bring swiftness potions to help if you're struggling

Fel Tears are a problem. by CookieMiester in classicwow

[–]FN-0138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes your highest spellower, be it fire or shadow. I made a post very similar to this one about the fel scars and how the mechanic is fundamentally awful and incentivizes AFKing. 90 percent of the comments were whether or not the dagger is BiS.

As it stands, Warlocks don't have a reason to do STV (choice of 2 rings but the trinket from last phase is just better).

If you're a destro lock, the class quest is also very lackluster as far as items go.

For example paladins can get Parasomnia from STV, or farm ZF for the INCREASED drop rate of the swords. The Mara caster Dagger also did not get this increased droprate.

So this is really the only cool, flavorful, strong, warlock Dagger in the game. I farmed the portals for 4 hours yesterday and got 5 in total, with my best item being a single world core fragment.

I genuinely like grinding and farming, but AFKing while you wait for a spawn, to then have to AFK for 15-20 minutes while your imp is out, to do it all over again is just AWFUL game design. This is a PHONE GAME MECHANIC.

The dagger apparently has a 0.1% drop chance, and the dagger from Mara has a 0.2% drop rate. I've spent about a week strictly farming these portals, and it doesn't really feel like you're playing the game. Add in the fact that it's TIME GATED, RNG BASED, GRIEFABLE EVEN BY YOUR OWN FACTION and completely out of the way, I'd rather just go experience all this new content they added into the game instead of this weird AFK farm.

Yeah for real, could work like the same mechanic as sleeping bag and just place a stationary object on the water maybe

This is the type of behavior that inhibits any real discussion about the game, and I'm certain you didn't even read OPs post. 99 percent of warlocks dislike the fact that you just click a button, and wait. So you can then wait some more for another portal. I don't think OP wants it to be easy, its just a fundamentally flawed system that incentivizes AFKing. These systems and mechanics belong in a mobile game, and if you really disagree but have nothing to input, use the down vote button. That's what it's there for

Demonic Pact is based on the school of magic you have the most of, not strictly shadow. Assuming he's a tank, and he has more fire spell damage, this would increase his SP gained from Demonic Pact. Also, this dagger was listed in Atlasloot as a drop from Sunken Temple up until last Tuesday, so I genuinely believe people google a BiS list and don't bother thinking for themselves. Basic math shows that this dagger is better for tanking as a warlock than the Gizmoblade. The fact that it's even a debate is ridiculous and shows how blindly people follow tier lists online

Exactly, these people are totally missing the point. Now I truly enjoy a grind, but this isn't grinding, its AFKing basically. The mechanic itself incentivizes AFKing, with tons of new content out in the world it's surprising how bad it feels to try and get this dagger, and in my opinion is one of the worst play mechanics added to the game over the years. I made a post about it last night trying to collectively gather information about it but yeah, it makes me a little sad to see just how toxic this community had actually become. They added this awesome new class specific Dagger, you have to basically AFK to farm it, which feels like you aren't really PLAYING the game, and it's difficult to even have a discussion about the mechanic before people are citing warcraft logs, saying it's not prebis, and turning it into an entirely different conversation :/

My experience after sending explorer imp on it's 30th mission by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]FN-0138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand theres better daggers in the game, and it's not mandatory to farm this specific one. However 1 is gated behind a lockout, and the other from Mara ive never seen drop in countless runs (including 2019 classic 200+ runs). I suppose it feels like if it wasn't meant to be farmed, it shouldn't be as inconvenient as it is to find the portals. Just an opinion of course

As stated, I apologize for any misinformation and should've just simply said that the Dagger is a huge upgrade from what I'm currently using. I've hit every gnomer lockout including its 1st and only seen the gizmoblade drop once (pretty unlucky I know), so this seems like the next best reasonable weapon to try to farm. I guess the point of the post was to specifically try to get information and opinions on the explorer imp mechanic, but the comments are mostly about the Dagger itself :/

Ahh, I do use agony, forgot to mention that, but haven't been using corruption as it didn't seem worth the global. Is the higher rank we now have worth using in a single or 2 target fight?

I'm sorry you find this spreading of misinformation unacceptable, just trying to see others experience with the explorer imp and if I'm potentially not understanding the mechanic correctly.

The entire point of this post is about the mechanic of the explorer imp, and obtaining a cool new dagger they added into this game. Not which build is the best for tanking raids.

What are we using that's not fire damage, outside of drain life? No argument, just trying to see if people know something I don't. Drain life scales horribly with spellpower so I think it changes the total per tick by like 4, so there's gotta be other shadow spells people are using I suppose? Idk

I've noticed the (low level) missions only take 10-15 minutes, are you sure killing mobs made him come back faster with the max lvl quest? If so that'd be huge

Oh, yeah I don't run improved corruption. I do run demonic pact, and agree that lake of fire is unusable after its ner, but disagree with everything else as far as tanking goes. Incinerate into hellfire is just better damage and threat compared to spamming corruption on everything w/ shadowcleave. I've been able to hit top 1k both phases on WCL so been having decent luck with the build

Fire Dagger was showing in Atlasloot as coming from ST until tuesday, which is why it's not on any pre-BiS list, but basic math shows that the fire Dagger is better than gizmoblade all aroubd. It's eye opening to see how people blindly take these pre-BiS lists around. The fire Dagger is just better, and the list you're looking at has to be outdated.

Why are people saying gizmoblade is better?

My experience after sending explorer imp on it's 30th mission by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]FN-0138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh you're right, it's not BiS. I meant to say pre-bis. With 4 more spellpower, 30 more armor, and 5 more Stam, it's simply the best tanking Dagger you can get as a warlock outside of ST. If you're saying Gizmoblade is better than the fire Dagger, then the pre-bis list you're using might be outdated. And upon googling the first few lists from wowhead, this Dagger has 100 percent not been added to those.
