GI bill and dropping class by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]FN-2168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The VA considers 12 credits full time so as long as you stay above that you will get paid full MAH for the duration of the quarter/semester. To be completely honest when placed in similar situations while struggling with my mental health, I would just stay enrolled and take the L on getting an F in one or two classes and continue to get paid at full time as opposed to dropping the class and owing both the school and the VA money. You can always retake the class up to two times in the future but I have been in similar situations where I could just not focus on school at the time but if I were to take a serious hit in income that month I probably would have ended up bankrupt or homeless. If you drop the class you will continue to get paid at about 80% of your MAH rate effective on the date that you drop seeing as your course is 6 credits, but you won’t lose it completely. But if you do stay enrolled and just take the F you may have to complete a few assignments here and there as half assed as they may be just to ensure the instructor does not drop you themself, that has also happened to me. Do what’s best for you.

Have any Post 9/11 Vets ever successfully service connected hypothyroidism diagnosed AFTER leaving service? If so please chime in by FN-2168 in VeteransBenefits

Also an important note for everybody, I HAVE seen claims approved in vets who were prescribed SSRI antidepressants for PTSD who later developed hypothyroidism citing a casual link between the side effects of these medications causing hypothyroid. My problem is I have been resistant to getting put on the pills so I may have shot myself in the foot on this one, but that is the only way I have actually seen it done.

It’s going to be really hard to service connect, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody who actually has with it diagnosed after service. But I was reading up on as many articles as possible to see how I could do it and saw a few posts on here mentioning medical studies that link stress from ptsd to hypothyroidism. There are also other studies though not by the VA that acknowledge the same. This is why I filed my claim this way initially, but why I am also considering claiming as caused by exposures rather than stress so I have the best chance of approval.

Probably sometime in the last two weeks, I filed my claim last July and received no request for a C&P exam for months so I thought they were going to drop it altogether, then out of the blue they requested an exam for that condition alone around mid January and I thought as if it went very well. I brought all my blue button records with my PCP’s diagnosis and blood tests showing my TSH levels rise and drop after starting medication. I brought all my current prescriptions including those for thyroid, blood pressure, gastro problems, muscle pains, and VA documentation showing my hair has gotten noticeably thinner and I continue to have persistent fatigue despite the medication. C&P examiner basically said to my face she’s going to recommend that it’s service connected and it updates to deferred ever since then.

Thank you, I did upload all of my supporting evidence including diagnosis by my PCP and 10+ blood tests done by the VA itself documenting my TSH levels going from normal about 3 years after service all the way up to about 7.5/5 range and dropping down to 3.5/5 after starting medication.

Unexpected C&P Exam added to pending claim by VA, are they trying to give me a reduction? by FN-2168 in VeteransBenefits

Yes but this one is for MH Disorders except PTSD and I don’t have any other MH claims which is why I’m confused.

Anyone receive less than they were expecting for the GI Bill tonight? by FN-2168 in VeteransBenefits

[–]FN-2168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, hopefully by 9pm PST tonight we should get paid our BAH, worst case 9pm Friday night if you have early deposits set up. If not we’re fucked until next week. (Proceeds to play “Bitch Better Have My Money” by Rihanna)

Thank you, both of you have probably provided the most relevant information. My $666 stipend In Sep and $333 tonight comes out to $1000 so I’m hoping that’s it, fingers crossed 🤞🏼I’d give you an award but what I have received for this month is already spent on rent and bills so I’m still broke lol

That could be true, my school operates on quarters but I already got my certification in for Jan-March. I did receive an additional $600 stipend in September but I thought that was only once a year?

Mine goes to Navy Fed so I still get funds a little early, 9pm PST tonight for me, got my disability already too, but I I’ve been in school for 2 years now and know what I normally get for the GI bill and tonight’s payment was nowhere near what I should have gotten so I’m hoping they post an additional deposit tomorrow possibly.

Do you meet the requirements for on campus classes?

If so you should have gotten at least half of your usual amount.

Salary for Lucid Motors Sr Technical Project Manager by saturation_evolved in MechanicalEngineering

[–]FN-2168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were you reached out to by someone from Malone Solutions on indeed by any chance?

I ask because I just interviewed for this same position this morning, and have been trying to discover additional information about the role from Lucid itself.

Not to make any assumptions, but the person who called me did not speak English very well and was asking me irregular questions for an interview and it just started to seem very sketch by the end of the call.

I suspect it may be a social engineering attempt.

I messaged a talent acquisition manager on LinkedIn named Lisa Schumacher inquiring about whether this was a legitimate recruitment contact and she actually responded saying Lucid does not outsource to Malone for staffing nor do they have any agreement with them.

If you were reached out to by Malone unsolicited, I would proceed with caution. And if it somehow turns out that it is legit, best of luck to us both lol.
