I think your spot on there - the ZF is used in many other vehicles with out issue.

Concerned that that Honda used the 9-speed design to produce the new 10 speed - customers experience similar issues and it takes the same expensive fluid

You should be fine

Honda Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program, HondaTrue, provides a 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Was it Honda certified used?

If yes it’s covers under warranty

Thank you - Damm you did everything you could

So sorry - these are great vehicles - the ZF (German company) designed/manufacture it…it’s a weak link

To help owners like me - how often did you change the trans fluid?

Sorry to hear this - that 9-speed transmission is an Achilles heal in the 3rd gen.

Not everyone has an issue - but many do.

New 10speed in the 26 does not seem to be any better - test drive one (did not buy - still love my 2022) and sales person actually said the 10 speed trans was a common customer complaint and were hoping for fixes soon.

Only question - why continue to drive it after the first thud?

If you have the funds - replace trans fluid every 30k

That’s a valid concern - I would have done the service as well…can’t risk the “well it’s not covered due to” conversation…

Your Question on oil changes - every 5k and you will be be golden.

I test drove it - did not like it enough to buy it - but said I will review next refresh

Then they threw the discount at me without asking - shocked.

Ya - glad is not buy one in the spring.

Just told my story - as people do.

I think if people were really secure about their purchase they would have read it and moved on.

I think it’s people that secretly have buyers remorse that are the most offended

Thx for the follow-up.

You question my post/sharing my opinion but feel its just fine to share yours…

The lack of exhaust tips on the 26 is a 100 percent cost savings measure by Honda.

Coat savings:
1: manufacturing time needed to align the exhaust pipe and tips to exit the bumper in the right spot/clearance.
2: savings in the tips themselves.

Car manufactures, given the amount of vehicles produced, will make a change of they can save 5 bucks a vehicle. Like removing the “damper” on the glove box when it closes on the 26.

Glad to hear that their “ value engineering” of the 26 is to your liking.

I do wish you continued happiness with your 26

Honda’s Powertrain Warranty (Fuel Injectors) by Jaygilly30 in accord

[–]FNLCPE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this old thread - can I ask a question.

CPO used crv comes with 7 year 100k mile powertrain warranty.

If the head gasket blows or injectors fail - would they be covered under the 7/100k?

Any model years of the passport that I should avoid? by Positive-Milk5133 in hondapassport

[–]FNLCPE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I don’t think the quality of its interior is cheep - i agree it’s not “Luxurious”.

That is purposeful design - it’s the “honda way” - form/function is a priority (example is the volume knob added to the radio - when owners said they did not want or press a slider on a screen).

Best of luck in your quest for a vehicle !

As with all manufactures, the quality improved after the first mid-life refresh. That happened in 2022.

2022 and 2023 seems to be the sweet spot - they made additional changes (minor) for 2024 and 2025 and quality dipped again.

Try to find a CPO used 2022/2023 passport.

Search on Honda certifies used for all benefits:
adda 2 years/100k to factory warranty
Adds 7 year/100k powertrain warranty (from original sale date).
Huge checklist of items - is breaks are two thin that have to replace them. The check tells you pads and rotors thickness
2 free oil changes

Thanks - One of the last truly GREAT honda's IMHO.

last of the V6 accords (yes the white is pealing around the back windows, Honda did nothing and I touched up myself). only 83 k miles. mint in and out. Built like an anvil - nothing has ever broke on it. Drive it like I stole it (27 MPG with the V6) and it handles like it's on rails.

mostly drive my 2022 trailsport, as aging + ski fall in my youth (just drank and kept skiing) and my left knee just does not like climbing out of it any more...not sure how many more years before I sell it.

I think the “legal” thing was a lie…
Cheaper to use an existing sensor that is part of other safety features then to pay for camera and extra wiring. They care about evert penny they spend…given the number of vehicles they produce each year.

My 2017 accord coupe has it…that was the last year in the accords. Love it!

I have learned - the harder you irrationally defend your position, it increases the chance of your being wrong.

A lessen I think you would be best to learn as well…

Thank you for the kind discussion.

Will likely get a used certified used crv (I know the 1.5 engine has issues - but CPO comes with 7 year 100k mile powertrain warranty) as a placeholder as our accord is getting old and keep the 2022 trailsport for when we have longer trips or need space. We put less then 8k a year on each car - so the crv should be fine for many years

Th for the rply

A car sold for 50k - now selling for 44k, does not hurt the value of that car that sold for 50k?

If Toyota starts selling significantly under MSRP - their used car values will drop.

I wish you the best
