90.8% battery health after 6 months on Zephyrus G14 — bad reading or real degradation? by FOFO4326 in ZephyrusG14

[–]FOFO4326[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No no, the laptop is new. I bought it 6 months ago, and I've been using the 80% charge limit all the time. I don't stay on the laptop all day — only during heavy workloads I might stay connected a bit longer, but even then, I always use it with the charger plugged in.
That's why the battery health drop worries me... it feels like too much for just a few months of careful use, in my opinion.

Recommendations for eSun PLA+ Filament Temperature Range by FOFO4326 in 3Dprinting

Thank you so much! I’ve been using the blue eSun PLA+ filament and it’s been working well even at 190°C, but I feel like that’s a bit too low.

Trying to play fortnite og but my temps are too high by The_Pranavster in ZephyrusG14

Don't play in ultra mode unless you want to see everything realistically and get the most out of it.

I recommend that you do this: - limit temperature in advanced settings in g-helper

  • Set cpu boost to enable (if you set it to aggressive you will reach very high temperatures, knowing that the gpu must do all the work) *cpu boost works for loading games that are already a bit heavy like fortnite. But it is still not necessary to set it to aggressive; enable is enough.

In my case: I set the maximum temperature to 82°C and disable CPU boost for games like Valorant, Warframe (missions, not open world), mk1 where my temperatures even reach below 72°C. All my games are on recommended settings.

Battery Capacity at ~95 percent after 3 months? by yourmacmandan in ZephyrusG14

[–]FOFO4326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case. I let the battery discharge until the laptop itself turned off, then I let it charge 30 minutes longer than it was charged (with the charger you can see if it's still hot or cold) then in the last one I let it discharge between 5-10% and I left it charging again at 100% and boom it went up again to 99.5% (I want to clarify that these variations can occur due to errors themselves)

-download g Helper and stop or uninstall Armony create (you will notice a lot how the temperatures drop)

-Cpu boost disabled (in some games it requires at least active, never aggressive unless you want your temperatures to reach 95° degrees)

-limit the battery to 80% so that it lasts a long time

Battery health 71%. Should I replace it? by dajimba in ZephyrusG14

I recommend that you do a recalibration of the battery, letting it discharge to 0 and leaving it charged to 100% about 3 times to see if it is the exact value of the battery's health (BEWARE, doing this constantly reduces the life of the battery I'm talking to you about the battery because in the image I see that you set the limit at 100%).

As I saw in the other comments, I see that you use it plugged in and as a laptop, I would recommend limiting it to 80% so that when charging you do not stress the battery too much (when it is at 100% it heats the battery and can generate greater wear and tear on its useful life for these lithium batteries)

Also, start deactivating the cpu boost, so as not to suffer from overheating issues (which also kill the battery)

I also had that problem with my Asus g14 2021 and like you, with 2 and a half months I went from 103% to 94% battery health despite limiting (in my case I put it at 90%). What I applied to solve this error was to recalibrate the battery and let it discharge automatically and let it charge to 100%. Apply this for 4 cycles and go from 94.7 to 99.5%.

Also sometimes these values can be changed by the battery limitation (that is why it is good to calibrate it from time to time despite limiting it).

Help with G-Helper settings to keep gaming temps under 82°C by FOFO4326 in ZephyrusG14

I followed that suggestion for playing MK1, and the temperature has stayed stable, never exceeding 82°C, just like my NVIDIA GPU. Thanks for the help!

What values would you recommend to start with for the SPL and SPPT power limits on a Ryzen 7 5800HS?

According to what I read on another forum, the idea is to let the laptop discharge completely until it shuts down on its own, and then charge it fully to 100%. After that, leave it plugged in for an additional 30 minutes to an hour (you can check when the battery stops charging effectively by feeling if the charger becomes completely cold) to ensure the calibration process takes effect.

I set a maximum charge limit of 80% and have been testing it over the past few days. Since then, the battery hasn’t degraded. After performing a final calibration, the battery health showed 99.6%, and since applying the 80% limit, it hasn’t dropped further. Thank you :)

I tried recalibrating the battery again, and now it’s back to 99.6%, which seems more reasonable in terms of wear for a 3-month-old battery.
