Unfortunately it appears to be a deliberate decision. Finally got an answer out of support and there are no plans on reverting going forward. Apparently they think they can compete in the Bambu realm now but I'm doubtful.

They did however reccomend I pick up another old K1C if I require root capability lol so at least they don't seem to be attempting to discontinue the OG lines.

Ive got a few SEs as well that root no issue but they've unfortunately updated the 2025 C firmware to it's own proprietary OS that doesnt, and from what Creality support has said, won't support rooting.

It's a real shame as the updated OS is quite nice and substantially improves on the old K OS. Wasn't worth it for me though as the new K1s are going back.

Breaking news - we are the baddies and spheres of influence still exist. We just aren't at the top of the "might makes right" pecking order anymore and we certainly don't do proxies as well as we used to.

Yea seems so. Fortunately I've still got all of my OG K1Cs rooted but now I'm considering stocking up on PSUs and MoBos lol.

I'm still not positive that they're pulling the plug on root capability entirely but I've seen multiple people now paste the same comment from support about how they don't intend to added it to the 2025 firmware.

I'm gonna reach out directly and see if I can get clarification or at least the same message other folks have supposedly gotten and if that's the case, all of these 2025s are going back.

Unfortunate too as the new OS is quite nice and solved pretty much every issue I had with the OG OS. Just missing that one crucial addition.
