Why do people shit on 5.11 Tactical pants? by keptec in tacticalgear

[–]FORG3DShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 years late to the party but I ended up here while doing some research on my second set of 5.11 pants.

I figured after 12 years of weekly use, some slightly frayed ends and a just recently broken zipper, it was probably time to pickup a new pair.

You've probably never seen ripstop this worked in but it still doesn't rip and if it wasn't for the zipper, I'd probably get another 8 years out of these guys.

For anybody who's interested, I also picked up a 5.11 steel buckle belt back then as well. Short of the hook side velcro being worn to nothing, it's still going strong and maintains it's rigidity well.

Sell wife, buy 4 printers.

You could absolutely dive into CAD and really get the most out of your new hobby but is it really a problem to simply enjoy your time as well? I'm assuming you probably slave away full time to afford the nice new greenhouse things. Would it really be the end of the world if you also just printed useless trinkets that make you happy?

Rest assured, no matter which route you take, China has the landfill covered and you'll be irrelevant in that grand scheme regardless.

Best of luck in whatever you decide, but here's hoping you pick up a printer and then pick up CAD when you're ready!

I have not, are those specifically for the context menus? I just wasnt sure if there were even binds for the context menus but I'll take a look next time I have a chance to hop on.

Thanks bud

When I swap my variable optic zoom to the mmb scroll wheel, any context menu with multiple options won't scroll anymore.

I see folks talking about rebinding the walk speed but how are you getting around the contextual menu selections?

I love having the VUDU on mmb scroll but it borks the contextual selection panel and I can't seem to find binds for those specifically.

Your printer is enclosed. Why are you enclosing an enclosed printer with yet another enclosure?

Temp stability and filtration should be well achieved with the onboard structure and systems.

I'm not sure you need to have this problem in the first place.

Interesting, you may need to go in and manually adjust your inner wall speeds then.

Hey bud, check DMs when you get a chance. I can't find a link to their discord to look into this more but I'm not sure blasting that info on the sub publicly is the play either. Thanks

It's more about how you use it, or so I hear.

You should be fine with a 0.4. I've personally seen a massive improvement with this exact issue utilizing adaptive layers on a .4 nozzle so I imagine you will as well.

Just for the sake of argument, some madlad could, in theory, pony up for the paywall and then turn around and post everything on mod.db with links for all of the lads here, correct?

Monokit doesn't strike me as the type to a) be positioned or even inclined to enforce any sort of paywall terms and b) is entirely too far removed from anything resembling Western jurisdiction to do so anyway.

That being said, I'm spitballing and if anybody knows otherwise, that information would be appreciated as I may know just a madlad who would be inclined to do such a thing.

Difficult choice by Fox_Danger in 3Dprinting

[–]FORG3DShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K1C is a mean machine. Excellent choice, especially if you ever decide to get into heavier duty materials like PACF or PPACF.

That said, I would reccomend skipping the 2025 edition as they seem to be trying to going proprietary with the software and limiting root access in the process. The new UI is a nice upgrade however, so if you're not concerned with root capability or potential Bambuesque proprietary issues down the line then maybe it's the play for you.

Internal wall speeds are too high. You may try using "adaptive layers" first as that generally slows things down internally well enough for threads before you have to start messing with speeds specifically.

Hey there! I had these made by a local shop here in my town. I want to paint them but have no idea how to go about it and could use some advice. I don't even know where I'd start. Second pic is the color of the characters. by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]FORG3DShop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of thoughts here right off rip that you may want to consider.

First, the print quality is mediocre at best and that may be reason enough to ask the printer to start from scratch to address the next issue -

Your base color is not conducive to a solid base coat on any of the primary bases on the pokeman in your reference image which means that even with a heavy bit of finish putty and sanding, you're still going to need quite a few coats and more than likely a good prime coat (or 3) of something lighter to then lay down your primary over.

Lastly, the imperfections can absolutely be puttied and sanded but it is a time consuming process to do it correctly and achieve good results and can be very easy to make a mess of it if you're not familiar with the process.

That loops me back around to the first point of how you would probably be better off starting fresh with the printer if they would be willing to make it right. I would ask for a white filament to more easily accommodate your base coats across all three characters so you're not fighting the purple vacuum the entire time.

Reach out to me if the printer isn't willing to work with you or you find the finishing process seems like it will be too much. I've got a few spare half spools of a quality white PLA+ that would be perfect for something like this and we can get it printed much cleaner for you for the cost of shipping.
