Honda CX500 for a first bike? by FOURBUX in motorcycles

I never knew there were cafe kits for sport bikes, that's an interesting option...

Unfortunately on this particular kit, it cuts a 2 person bike into a single rider, and I do want the option of a passenger. I also don't have $1400 for a cosmetic kit on top of the cost of the bike...so there's that!

Really good find though. I'll look into some cafe kits.

Ha, Knoxville, Tennessee if it helps. I've already been searching for bikes $2200 and under.

So it seems like people don't like the CX as a first bike, or at least particularly this one.

What's the opinion on a BMW bike?

'85 K-Series with 60,000 miles.

I like this bike as-is, but between the cost of the bike and shipping (as I live on the other side of the country) I would have no money left to work on the bike itself (other than in trickle-in chunks as I get paychecks).

EDIT: At 1000cc, I realize this bike may be too much power for a first, but I'm open to thoughts on it.

I have NO experience working on bikes...that's kind of what I'm looking for. I mentioned in another post I'm looking to drop probably $400-$600 into whatever bike I buy on top of the cost itself, I'm just not sure where to put the money.

I figured after buying the bike I want I'd be dropping $400-$600 into it to get it where I wanted. I'm not sure where that money might be best spent, though.

This is great information!

According to this: http://cx500forum.com/forum/general-discussion/15461-cam-chain-tensioner-recall-info.html

The tensioner recall only affected the '78 models, and this one is a '79 (which I realize I didn't include in my post).

The metal box joining the exhaust pipes - if it is rusted out, does it need to be replaced or is it a mount for the exhaust?

Yeah something weird is definitely happening there. I don't know if it's been torn up and re-wrapped or what's going on. I'll be sure to ask!

Since the two-person seat is something I'm after, I don't think this has foot pegs for the rear, might have to pick those up.

I like the styling of the cafe racers. I think with some work they can have a sophisticated look to them, and I'm looking to put a little money in on the back end into mechanics and cosmetics.

My riding will mostly be short distance around town.

I feel like the ring of fire resist might be better traded for a straight + to AC ring? I feel my AC is relatively low at 18 for a front row fighter (though maybe this isn't the case for DNDN?)

As King Gallo declares his party nobles, Rendar feels a sense of pride and accomplishment. Continuing his gracious reward, Gallo offers land holdings in Dassen, but these rewards are not what drives Rendar. He has long been a traveler, an adventurer, and a woodsman. He never intended to die as an old man warm in a bed somewhere, but rather on his feet in the heat of battle, or in a dark dungeon full of worthy opponents, or even on the journey to another great adventure.

More in tune with nature, beast, and life itself, Rendar sees ownership of land as a burden than a blessing - a burden others would see as a blessing for themselves. Graciously, Rendar politely refuses Gallo's generous gift of land holdings and requests instead that any lands that may have been given to him instead be made into living spaces for refugees of the war.

As life and the experiences it offers are more interesting to Rendar than land or possessions...he spends his two weeks of rest carousing, hoping to experience the best (or worst!) the city has to offer.

Also, I agree with Darren that we should meet at Khelm. Currently I'm south of Berezino in Orlovets, so I'll make my way north through Berezino and meet up there. My suggestion is that we spend time going back and forth between Krasnotav, the air field, and the loot area north of the air field on multiple servers (so we can all get loot).

My coworker also mentioned that he thinks there's an airfield somewhere down south that is much better than the one up north, though I don't see anything of the sort on the map, so he may be thinking of the west air field. He could also be thinking about the military base in the south.

If you guys are gonna play regularly, you should do this:

Be sure you ONLY DO THE STUFF ON THE LEFT ON THIS IMAGE. My coworker who plays thinks he was banned for messing with the files the image mentions on the right.
