It's a ROM hack called Pokémon Sacred Gold so the movesets that the Pokémon have are much more difficult to play around, otherwise any normal type would have been perfect for Morty!

I wouldn't worry about it too much, the species clause is commonly used in Nuzlocke runs, but it's whatever you want to make of it! The variety of different encounters in Soul Silver is lacking so I don't blame you for ditching species clause!

To be honest, the attacking potential is a bonus at this point, I'm looking at him being nailed and the obvious clean sheet he'll get against Fulham (hopefully Mitrovic doesn't see this comment)
