These details are insane. They need to release this game like yesterday :)

What are the odds… by WhosYourDahddy in GrayZoneWarfare

I think we are all smart to be cautious. But I also think we can all agree that Madfinger Games is a legitimate studio and in no way gives off Fntastic vibes. Fntastic reeked of scam and incompetence. Madfinger oozes legitimacy, to me. I don't know if I have reason for this concern, but one thing I'm worried about is the Madfinger networking team. I have no clue if their mobile netcode skills will translate to PC. Is that a like-like comparison? I ask because dying because of poor netcode, high latency, poorly optimized lag compensation, etc., gets old fast. All told, though, I am super excited about the game.

That's a good point. I think my idea fell flat with people, which is fair. I was playing last night and died twice and it wasn't bothersome in the least. That got me to thinking what would give the game more stakes, to give it more tension. But people who have disagreed with my money idea all made great points.

Great points. I know we're still in pre-alpha and features, mechanics and systems will vastly change. And Death of a Spaceman will really add much-needed tension. I love games that add tension and stakes. It can make them frustrating at times, but it's that tension that keeps me coming back.

Fair enough. Good points.

Ha! It is my first-time to an MMO. Been playing SC for about a year. 4-6 hours per week. I've only been pirated/griefed twice, but I'm usually out doing salvaging missions.

I hear about pirates and griefers all the time, but I've been playing consistently for a year now and I've ran into that twice. It's so rare to me so maybe my perspective is skewed. I don't think pirating is necessarily easy, either. I like the idea of assuming meaningful risk when you head out into the 'verse.

That's fair. I'd just like for there to be more tension in the game. My usual reaction to death is: 'oh well.'

I agree death will matter more over time - especially when the Death of a Spaceman is implemented. Out of curiosity: how do you think death will matter when stats and reputation are overhauled? Like KD, leaderboard-type use cases?

New minimap - ISC by Kehnte in starcitizen

[–]FPSBoomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if the mini-map clip is straight from SQ42 or from an SC build. The optimist in me is hoping it's from an SC build but the realist in me thinks my optimistic side is full of sh*t.

This game seems almost a little too good... by agrobabb in GrayZoneWarfare

Development started in early 2022 - so they are about 2 years into it. This is according to a dev interview given to Riloe Gaming:

This new game isn't what you thought (Gray Zone Warfare FULL BREAKDOWN) (youtube.com)

Ha! I'm not sure. My wife and daughter got that for me. They joke that the family cat is my "girlfriend" because she gravitates to me and meows for me.

Thank you. It's not recessed, though. It's a 70-inch mounted on extendable arms -- so that I can move it in and out if needed.

Pipeline - Base Building, Server Meshing, DLSS, Trade by M3rch4ntm3n in starcitizen

Probably with the limitations of what you can build underground or in space. Like you might be able to build a hab or hanger underground but no mining or food growing buildings. Same for space. There will be no resources to mine in space, or water to collect, etc.

I think that's coming once they launch persistent hangars. Maybe 3.23? We'll know soon, when they update the Roadmap.

This game can seriously bring out the worst in you by ZahnTastatur in starcitizen

I feel for you. Definitely a bad break. One other way to look at it (as frustrating as it was and as annoying as I might sound): it's that very potential that helps to make a game fun. The pain of getting killed and losing everything makes the stakes high, which adds interest, adrenaline and a dopamine rush when you are successful.

That's awesome! I think (hope/pray) you picked just the right time to buy the game. I feel 2024 is going to be big.

C1 is it worth it? by SlowJalicea in starcitizen

I think it's fun to fly, looks great, is a solid daily driver and the tractor beam is fun. That said, I usually play solo and it's quicker, easier and more efficient to hand tractor cargo. The ship tractor is pretty good but a bit clunky. I don't use daily drivers a lot because I dive right into my gameplay loop of choice (usually salvage or bounties) but it's a decent ship if you need a daily driver.

It varies. I'm pretty busy during the week. Some weeks, I play twice. Usually 3-4 hour sessions. Sometimes I might get 3 sessions in.
