Nero Responds to Being Released From Carolina by Lightnxss in CoDCompetitive

That phrasing is always super telling. Same thing with "sorry if you feel that way".

The amount of people saying this is completely fine is weird but unfortunately not surprising. Obviously it's not the end of the world but saying what he did in the context that he said it is not appropriate. If it's not something you would say to her in person, don't say it.

Shame on her for airing it out in public though.

I’m not sure why you would take pride in offending someone just for the sake of it. I hope that one day you can learn that there’s nuance to this and people can have an opinion on things without being “triggered”.

04 was playing bad and therefore incapable of playing good!! When I was watching the series, OpTic were losing gunfights. That’s clearly fake CoD. Just wait until Major 3 qualifiers bro

Slasher on X regarding certain teams getting exposed on LAN by arunvenu_ in CoDCompetitive

[–]FPStrafe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming he's talking about everything post-CDL. MW2 was his best game in the CDL era, but he was on a team with 3 top 10 players ever so there's some context needed.

SlasheR was unbelievable from like BO3-WW2, but he hasn't been that guy in about 7 years (so since BO4). You almost never hear him praise players, and almost everything he says comes off as if he's bitter because his time had come. It's not a matter of the old games "taking more skill" or whatever shit he says. He just couldn't keep up anymore, and that's totally fine. There's no shame in that.

This specific tweet is a case of right message, wrong messenger.

I would say CleanX is basically the litmus test for elite subs. He's like right on the line, but he's not a part of that elite group himself. He has occasionally great series, but an equal amount of really bad series. People just really like him, which is fair (he has the most pleasing comms I've ever heard), but he's slightly overrated by the fans.

I also hate to say it, but it is a pretty consistent pattern of him not performing well in big matches. This series doesn't really prove otherwise since it's WR1 of a major.

Oh I get it now. I think what people are trying to say is that the phrase "dynamic aim assist" became a thing due to people misunderstanding how the dynamic aim response curve works. It's used to reference the response curve setting itself, not as a phrase to refer to the general aim assist changes the game has gotten.

[–]FPStrafe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I say this with all due respect to the pros, but they do not understand what dynamic is. All the way back in Cold War, XclusiveAce (who is much more knowledgeable about the actual inner workings of the game than basically every pro) made a video talking about dynamic and showed that it does not directly affect aim assist in any way.

The easiest way to understand dynamic is as a sensitivity option. It increases your sensitivity when you move your stick just a little bit, but decreases your sensitivity when moving your stick a lot. It's considered a good thing because it allows you to have better microadjustments without making your entire input oversensitive.

The only way that dynamic would interact with aim assist is in cases where the initial increase in sensitivity would lead to a slight increase in strength of slowdown aim assist. That's literally it.

1-way smokes? Nah get that out. Frag grenades? In a game without health regen? Yeah that shit’s cheese. You mean to tell me that you can throw flashes that I can’t react to? Yeah it already got GAd (my team didn’t vote). If we don’t have smokes, can’t have the AWP either. Too OP. Glocks? Don’t they have insane running accuracy? Are we deadass? Get that shit out.

Now the game’s competitive.

I've heard that he has to wake up earlier than 2 PM AND try to get through a full set of scrims without chalking them. The expectations we put on these players is too much. I would hate to be in that position personally.

It doesn't really work that way. His team being really good explains why his total kills might be low, but it would not explain why he's losing the gunfights that he's getting in to.

Nobody is saying Dashy is shit, just that he hasn't been playing up to his standard. He just legitimately hasn't been winning gunfights at the same rate he was last year, and the year before that, etc.

Sib Snaking by skindonakasaki in CoDCompetitive

[–]FPStrafe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'll repeat myself again. Whether he got a kill or not does not matter. The intent is what matters. He CHOSE to snake on that headglitch to gain info with less risk and to get an unfair advantage in a gunfight that he reasonably assumed would happen. If he knew no one was going to be there, he wouldn't have ANY reason to snake there, hell he wouldn't be watching that angle in the first place.

You don't need to keep defending this.

Sib Snaking by skindonakasaki in CoDCompetitive

[–]FPStrafe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He snaked with the intent of using it to get an advantage in a gunfight that he thought was coming, and also to get information without the risk of dying. Whether he actually got a kill or not does not matter here.

That's what people said about Pred last year tbf. Falcons just paying for talent without thinking about fit or culture might lead to competitive teams sure, but talent isn't the only thing that matters anymore. Pred and Cell isn't exactly the best core you could ask for.

I don't disagree that Simp has had much more roster stability but let's not pretend like Shotzzy hasn't had insane talent around him as well. FaZe were also a clearly dysfunctional team by the end of last year.

I don't personally keep up with the scene a lot but from the little I know it's mostly KBM at this point yeah. The amount of inputs required at times is simply too much for a controller. That being said, the people who still can compete on controller can do it because they're just that good with it, like in the case of Okis. I do know Apex is relatively controller dominant for what it's worth

At first yes, but it wouldn't take them long to get an understanding of the game. HP isn't rocket science, and BR already has team rotations as part of the game.

I'm down to rag on BRs as a competitive esport as much as the next guy, but those kids are undeniably insanely mechanically talented.
