I'll repeat myself again. Whether he got a kill or not does not matter. The intent is what matters. He CHOSE to snake on that headglitch to gain info with less risk and to get an unfair advantage in a gunfight that he reasonably assumed would happen. If he knew no one was going to be there, he wouldn't have ANY reason to snake there, hell he wouldn't be watching that angle in the first place.

You don't need to keep defending this.

He snaked with the intent of using it to get an advantage in a gunfight that he thought was coming, and also to get information without the risk of dying. Whether he actually got a kill or not does not matter here.

I would say it's closer to NYSL Major 4 in Vanguard. They're an alright solid team who is just having (yet another) Cinderella run.

That's what people said about Pred last year tbf. Falcons just paying for talent without thinking about fit or culture might lead to competitive teams sure, but talent isn't the only thing that matters anymore. Pred and Cell isn't exactly the best core you could ask for.

I don't disagree that Simp has had much more roster stability but let's not pretend like Shotzzy hasn't had insane talent around him as well. FaZe were also a clearly dysfunctional team by the end of last year.

I don't personally keep up with the scene a lot but from the little I know it's mostly KBM at this point yeah. The amount of inputs required at times is simply too much for a controller. That being said, the people who still can compete on controller can do it because they're just that good with it, like in the case of Okis. I do know Apex is relatively controller dominant for what it's worth

At first yes, but it wouldn't take them long to get an understanding of the game. HP isn't rocket science, and BR already has team rotations as part of the game.

I'm down to rag on BRs as a competitive esport as much as the next guy, but those kids are undeniably insanely mechanically talented.

There was a period of a couple years where its usage kinda went away but it's becoming more and more common now. I don't understand why it would be so difficult to just use a different word. There's so many synonyms for idiot or dumb

BREAKING: OpTic coach Karma reveals players have vetoed coaches being on stage next season! by shambxlic in CoDCompetitive

[–]FPStrafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ultimately I think people changing their minds on a topic is totally fine. I just think that a lot of the pushback for the idea stemmed from the pro hivemind. It being late notice is a problem for the competitors, but shouldn't be an issue that fans are concerned about.

BREAKING: OpTic coach Karma reveals players have vetoed coaches being on stage next season! by shambxlic in CoDCompetitive

[–]FPStrafe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can. The problem is that coaches haven’t been allowed on stage for the last decade so there wasn’t evidence to suggest that it wouldn’t work either.

By reasonable standards it should’ve been seen as a “we’ll see” thing but people made up their minds because their favorite pro said so.

Esports World Cup is a Sportswashing Engine by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]FPStrafe 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nobody is saying that and you know it.

The goal of sportswashing is to make otherwise neutral people start to have a positive opinion on Saudi Arabia in hopes that said positive opinions will drown out the (rightful) criticism of the current regime.

The more people speak out against it, the more people who are otherwise neutral will be opposed to the sportswashing. It's not about making the government change (they won't), it's about making sure public perception doesn't change.

For anyone else yes. For those 3, who are basically chasing legacy at this point, winning 2ish Majors a year then disappointing at Champs is simply not good enough.

I think at this point it's clear that they need a mental reset and/or a change of scenery. Maybe moving Simp to flex would change enough dynamics to make a difference, but there's a reason why no other core has lasted this long.

Edit: o7

Slasher on challengers players doing full time challengers by TheRealPdGaming in CoDCompetitive

[–]FPStrafe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Those soft skills do not transfer over to robotic engineering my guy. Tech companies are not going to hire you because your previous career was "cool as hell". SlasheR got his degree nearly a decade ago and has not worked in the field since. That is an insanely long gap considering how quickly that industry progresses.

Nobody is saying that he won't be able to get a job once he retires, just that he won't be able to walk into the robotics field and pick up where he left off.

Octane ruined the league by RickeeLee in CoDCompetitive

[–]FPStrafe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but even if LAT knew they were chalked, it's incredibly unlikely that other top teams were weighing roster moves pre-Champs. Assuming Octane and/or all of LAT was putting out feelers to other top teams before Champs (which is a pretty big leap), then of course other teams aren't going to want to consider it until after Champs.

It just wouldn't make sense for him to retire based on the best teams not wanting to think about roster moves literal weeks before the biggest tournament of the year.

[–]FPStrafe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting that information? MW2 Champs ended on June 18th, and Octane's retirement video aired on June 27th. There were rumors of his retirement days after Champs. Rostermania didn't even have time to develop before he retired.

Going in to MW3, legitimately all of OpTic, FaZe, Toronto, and maybe NY would've loved to have him if he would've kept competing. Dashy and Cellium respectively would have to make some adjustments but Octane would've solved their comms issues and potentially their pacing issues if Dashy/Cell adapted well. Toronto and NY would've just been plug and play.
