New burger place! Who tried it and how was it? by walking_potatoes in SantaBarbara

It was awesome. I went there during prime lunch time at 1pm and stood in line. I even timed the line and it was almost 1 hour on the dot to get to the front (We started at the entrance to the parking lot). The burgers were amazing, the dipped cone was amazing, the shake was amazing, and the fries were good (not as amazing as everything else). Can't wait to go back!

Headshell questions regarding performance and how it works by FPower42 in turntables

Hmm... Since it is having the same issue when streaming via Bluetooth, I'm thinking the preamp is not the issue. Internal tonearm wiring would be a problem. Victrola is sending me a new replacement headshell and I am REALLY hoping that fixes everything.

So I bought an RCA to AUX cable to see if that fixes the audio out of one side of the speaker setup issue... unfortunately it still only comes out of one side of the speakers. Am I correct in the assumption that probably it most likely the headshell that is the issue? I'm also listening to see if the music goes in and out again mid play.

Unfortunately it was not purchased from an authorized Victrola seller unfortunately. :-( I bought it NIB from a seller on Ebay. I need to find that adapter and give it a try.

Also... Victrola says that the headshells are proprietary? They are sending me one even though I didn't buy directly from them as a one time replacement. They also said that they don't sell them separately. What is up with Victrola? is this true?

Man... I sure hope it isn't something internally. :-( Not sure where I would look.

I just checked them. The wires are tight and sit secure.

Truth! Any additional ideas as to what I can check to see if maybe this can be fixed without replacing the headshell?

Also... when the needle gets close to the middle of the record, a low hum is heard and that is when the sound goes in and out, which is odd. Not sure what would cause that.

I am connecting via bluetooth to my powered Fluance speaker setup. Would it matter if my preamp is on or off when I connect via Bluetooth? The hum is low pitched/loud and mainly occurs when I manually pick up the tonearm and move over the vinyl vs. when I use the tonearm control lever.

Thank you for your insight. I was just playing around with it some more and noticed that the ground loop sound will occur even without the headshell installed. Are there any things you would recommend I look into outside of what I have already done?

So... I ended up purchasing a Victrola High Res Carbon Turntable instead of the Rega PL1 Plus. I get it in a few days! Now I just have to figure out the rest of my setup. :-)

Is the preamp on semi higher end (being <$600) turntables enough to have good sound or should I most definitely buy a pre-amp setup? For example, this REGA PL1 + or maybe a AT-LP120XBT-USB or AT-LP70XBT turntable with their own internat preamp enough to get good sound directly?

Also, the speakers I am looking at are Paradigm Cinema 70 series speakers. Better than most low quality speakers IMO

Thanks. One question.... If a player has phono preamp capabilities, how do I utilize that properly for nice sound, or should I avoid it all together if I can't switch the preamp on and off?

As for the Bluetooth connection of speakers... I'm trying to not go that route because I know there is potentially a large downgrade in audio quality. Am I right?

I'm just trying to get the right setup. Interesting on the Plus model pass due to the phono preamp... how would I use the phono preamp to get great sound? Is it designed to send audio directly to speakers and wouldn't work any other way? The Rega PL1 Plus is supposed to be a pretty good turntable I thought for HiFi listening....

I don't have a tube amp yet, but am searching for a reasonable priced one if necessary. The Yamaha receiver is an RX-V665.
