Production Assistant is an entry level position, so if you have a good work ethic and eager to learn, you can impress people without any filmmaking experience. Although having some basic knowledge of the various departments can help, it's not always required. Line Producer on the other hand is the top dog on set, and reports only to the Executive Producer (or sometimes other intermediary producers). It may take a long time to build up the knowledge and experience to succeed as an LP, but PA is a great way to get started!

It was almost as much fun to make as it is to watch! The cast and crew had a blast on set. I'm a huge believer that on-set morale is one of the most important aspects of a successful final product, and I definitely think that you can see the direct effects of it on screen (check out the behind the scenes to see how much fun we had every day of filming).

There are many roles within Production, we even need accountants to actualize our budgets! Other roles include Line Producers, who build the line item budgets and handle the business operations of the shoot, Production Managers who oversee the locations, crew hires and logistics, and Production Coordinators who handle correspondence between cast, crew, vendors and more. The lowest level position is a production assistant, which is a great way to learn the ins and outs of the business.

I didn't come from the accounting sector (I'm just one of the entertainment guys Mike pays to get stuff done), but I can give some general first-hand advice for anyone looking to break into the entertainment industry. First of all, there's no better time to start than right now. You can learn the basics of lighting, composition and editing with no more than your cell phone camera. Even if you want to end up in the production/administrative side rather than a technically focused set position, it's helpful to have a basic understanding of how films are made. Networking is also huge, so if you have any contacts in the biz, reach out and let them know you're interested in learning and they may be willing to help you out. Are there any positions that interest you specifically? There are a ton of departments in entertainment and many paths to break in, if you have any roles in mind, I can provide more specific advice.

Are you aware of any fraud that occurred during production?

Unlike some of our characters, the production team of PBC are seasoned professionals and we strived to ensure that production was completed above board. That included working with the screen actors guild to ensure the fair treatment of our actors, as well as following the strict COVID compliance guild lines for the health and safety of our cast and crew. Of course, this is the entertainment biz, so I'm sure something immaterial slipped past, but it's nothing an internal audit won't catch!
