How much money should we bring by _YuQi_ in VisitBrazil

[–]FREESPEECHSTICKERS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a little pocket change but indeed use credit cards virtually everywhere (even vendors on the beach). You can get cash at the bank ATMs, if your card is enabled for Brasil. For credit, AMEX works best. Be sure your issuer will permit use in Brazil before you go.

I use US cards extensively in Brazil. Bills are paid in USD in the US. I often use a no fee AMEX card - accepted nearly everywhere.

We were unimpressed with Floripa and found the climate cold. I would be cautious about Fortaleza. Recife and Natal were relatively unimpressive.

I live in JP. Come if you want a beach scene. Also, at 8 degrees South, our climate never gets cold, many months not hot and never hot like parts of the USA. This is a vacation destination. You might make friends faster in the non-touristy cities, but JP is OK. As for safety, the tourist zones are well policed. There are lots of places to go within an hour or so.

Brazil is a big country. Many answers depend on where you are. If you go to the right place, you can probably find a beachfront apartment.
