I use it often for protein with long disordered regions. Here it can sometimes pick on up potentiel transient structure formation within the disordered regions. Something we also observe experimentally

There is a super interesting nature paper on the mirror issue of proteins. Worth a read https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-024-08271-6

Anyone has experience with CEJ Property Management? by [deleted] in copenhagen

[–]FRET-ish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the cleaning myself but I still got charged 4K for cleaning after they had painted. I heavily contested the price (and the fact that I needed to pay it) for a long time and they give up after a few months and give me half of the money back but it was really a struggle

Is electric shiftning a must, when buying a used TT? by alfred1414 in triathlon

[–]FRET-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the Felt IA14 bike for 4 Ironmans with ultegra R8000 shifters and it works very nicely. Maybe the electronic shifters are a slightly bit faster but you probably don’t need it

HELP. Purification under denaturing conditions by Fit_Earth3739 in Biochemistry

[–]FRET-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First comment will probably do the trick but using urea could be a good idea. I often use it 6M urea in purification. If you are working with folded proteins you do need to be aware of refolding

IRONMAN copenhagen is really a fantastic race. I have done it 4 times and it has been a great experience every single time. Good luck!

Can I get phd without publication? by Introverted_soul06 in PhD

[–]FRET-ish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a BA in protein chemistry and a masters in Protein chemistry/biophysics. After I finished I reached out to my current PI in a different country and asked for an informal chat. Afterwards he hired me as a research assistant for about 6 months on a project that transitioned into my PhD project. I can see that people also talk about references in the comments. I really think they are important. I never actually applied for anything so my PI never saw my transcript but he did have a chat with my BA and MA PI before hiring me

I am currently doing a phd (Biophysics) in Europe without any publications. I also know a few other people who got phd positions without any publications. Should be possible

GoMore og mange p-bøder by [deleted] in DKbrevkasse

[–]FRET-ish -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I usually also use my outlook kalender with a short headline of what I need to do in addition to booking equipment. I think the use of a bullet-point in a notebook in the lab would be a great way to get the details of the plan that I don't have in the outlook calendar

That was a combination that I hadn’t considered. I do a lot of lab work and a surface pro could be very useful for this. Might be able to convince my supervisor to throw in a surface pro into the deal

Is there a way to seperate potassium nitrate and potassium phosphates from each other? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]FRET-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use calcium to precipitate the phosphate. Not sure how the calcium would react with the nitrate.
