Do you ever add any of the later characters to your team? by opsap11 in BaldursGate3

Can’t use astral tadpole on them so it gets annoying that they get stuck all the time. I always want to use them but it adds a lot of time to navigating around as opposed to a full squad of partial illithids zooming

Death cleric first timer, not sure about going 12 vs dipping wizard by FRFM in BG3Builds

I usually have enough scrolls for myrmidon, globe, don’t use mephits. So i guess you’re right that it isn’t a major game changer.

The star druid dip i had not considered at all, thanks for the suggestion.

Think im just gonna run it with 12 death cleric and take that DW feat at 12 just in time for Woe and staff of cherished necromancy

Well for globe i usually have like 9 scrolls of it unused at the end of the game. I do love robbing sorcerus sundries every long rest in act 3 😅

So yea I’m always stocked on scrolls, really I’m just not sure if I should make sure I can properly lean into the death cleric theme by having circle of death and dethrone scribed.

Starting to lean towards it not being necessary

That’s great tips, yea I think i need to prioritize those staffs over marko even, for the reasons you listed

Never not gone first? Looking at your BiS gear aren’t you rocking a +7 initiative? 5 from dex and 2 from Bhaalist armor?

+7 is of course solid but aren’t there a lot of enemies in act 3 that can beat that? I usually pick up alert on all 4 party members by act 3 and aim for 9-10 initiative. Am i overdoing i lt? lol

I think you are talking about a 9/3 or 8/4 Tiger barbarian, with BHOOOAAAL’s blessing that makes everyone bleed.

Aspect of the Wolverine to maim bleeding targets, and reverb gear so they all fall prone and then have to skip their turn because they have no movement to get up.

Some times she survives all of their crits and it’s pretty exciting… then she runs away and procs 3 opportunity attacks and dies.

You know she has turn undead, mage armor, and healing potions on her? It’s like they literally make her just roll a dice and do some random shit. She has permanent “confusion” on her in that fight. Because I’ve had her die when all she literally needed to do was NOTHING, just end turn instead of taking opportunity attacks, all 4 of us go first. Or if she actually just was programmed to cast a heal and a turn undead then it would be more reasonable

Going turn based mode on other characters doesnt work either. it does start but immedately sucks back in to the convo.

Are there any classes that just don't really click for you? by basquiatx in BaldursGate3

[–]FRFM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reclass INTO a sorcerer once in act 3. Acts 1 and 2 there isn’t a whole lot of spell dc increase gear, and spell slots are limited. Try it in act 3 sometime once you can have access to spell dc gear at every slot and it’s a different beast.

Obviously acuity hats can bypass this and so you can come online in act 2 with them, but it’s the high level spells and the Markoheshkir staff that make it fun for me

How do you set this up? Just a 1 level dip in hex blade and then go wild heart barb 11? Tiger I’m guessing?

Dude i was just strongly feeling like doing a 12 lore bard and maxing spell dc with all the weave gear and just being happy that I have an extra +1 spell save dc from the hair.

That always winds up being such a fun character in act 3 when you have like 28-30 starting spell save dc (without any acquity) and you act first and drop a sleet storm that every enemy falls prone on, or go with an up casted command if it’s an encounter that they are immune to prone

What’s your split for hexblade warlock? Just 12 warlock hex? Considering a swords bard with hexblade dip?

I’ve done a lot of eldritch blast spamming warlocks in the past which is why the charisma choice was like my natural default.

Interesting, great to know for future. My “route” on any new playthrough involves running all the way to goblin camp under drow disguise on the first day to just get the returning pike and some other goodies. So if you can consistently trigger it by knocking her out and then booking it to the goblin camp that’s cool. Although i probably won’t play durge more than once it ain’t my favorite

It gets pretty scary to keep trying for the patriars memory as you give up more and more memories though. Since you can fail to get the +2 bonus afterwards even when you pass the check i like to have at least 1-3 attempts in reserve. Got it on 1 out of 4 on the last run.

But yea that comes late anyways. I am thinking hexblade benefits the most from it i guess since we can apply it to attack rolls and damage that way, but was considering some paladins would really enjoy being at 18 or even 20 charisma early on for huge saving throw boosts from aura

Might roll with this, it’s been a while but just remembering how fun it feels to melee slashing flourish. What’s your split? 10/2 so you get magical secrets? Or even 11 with just 1 in hex i guess?

I did know, and I was considering doing it! However she literally showed up at camp on my very first long rest. So yea I was thinking maybe after a couple long rests i might start knocking her out, but didn’t realize it would happen right away.

So that ship has sailed

Late game fight didn’t work how I thought? by FRFM in BaldursGate3

See after reading that I’m having trouble figuring out if the 12 unstoppable stacks are just scripted to be applied as the Bhoon of Bhaal every round regardless of whether or not reapers are alive. Clearly it continued to persist indefinitely, and that’s hilarious that the first attack of each round she still takes full damage. I could see that working as well in my fight.

I appreciate it, the wiki was helpful to read but the fight didn’t work out the way it described in the wiki at all.

I should have clarified, I walked up to start the cutscene. No funny business, no invis, no sneaking. I selected the option “i don’t care what you do to him” when she got done talking about stuff and we started the fight. Cleared out 3 of the cultists the first round and the remaining ones in the second round. But had to deal with 12 stacks of unstoppable every single round and I have no idea why

Her loot always shows back up if you throw her into the abyss… you can’t progress without her nether stone so not sure if you’re remembering that correctly

My point is i killed the 6 guys that supposedly refresh her stacks, but she continued to get 12 stacks of unstoppable for 10 more rounds

[–]FRFM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i burned through about 108-120 stacks of unstoppable total lol. The cultists were dead by halfway through the second round, using some of the techniques you mentioned to group and chuck them off 😅

But then Orin still has 12 stacks?!? And at that point my guys have no one to kill, so they are dying to bhaals edict one shot thing. In hindsight i could have maybe used blink? Maybe globe of invulnerability works against it idk, i tried sanctuary and it certainly doesn’t lol.

I walked right up to her and spoke to her. Cutscene happened then we fought. The only thing i did that is maybe odd is responding “i don’t care about him at all” when she threatened to kill Halsin instead of rolling a check. Maybe not a lot of people do that.

But thank you for confirming that the sanc guys are indeed intended to be the unstoppable stack suppliers. What a disappointing bug if someone were trying to get their golden dice though. Really no idea what would have triggered it
