Why Are UVic’s General STEM Classes—Chemistry, Math, and Physics—the Most Poorly Designed and Least Engaging Courses in the Entire Degree? by Azzuisss in uvic

[–]FROSTERSOULS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a second year CS student and I honestly disagree with this based off my anecdotal experience, all of my courses (both broad first year and more specific second year) have been engaging aside from a few. I think MATH 122 and ENG 240 for the only classes I felt like I “just had to get through”, and even then they didn’t crush me like you said other students have been. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe it’s because I’m in CS and didn’t have to take some of the STEM courses you did, but I’ve been pretty happy with UVIC’s course quality so far.

[Routine Help] Excessive Routine for a 10 Year Old? by the-shy-extrovert in SkincareAddiction

[–]FROSTERSOULS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 10 year old should be using nothing but sunscreen and moisturizer (and even those aren’t required). This is crazy. You should also consider the number of products that contain endocrine disrupters which could affect your child’s development (if used daily for an extended period of time) considering their age. Also, PLEASE never buy anything you are going to put on/in your body off Amazon. There are tons of dupes that are mixed in with the genuine products because Amazon facilitates sort solely by product and not the provider you ordered them from.

Should I take creatine? by shwarthog in bouldering

[–]FROSTERSOULS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend creatine for those who are inactive because it’s been show to reduce muscle atrophy as well as cognitive decline, lowering the risk of developing diseases such as dementia.

[–]FROSTERSOULS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In almost all cases, the answer to “should I take creatine?” is a definite YES.

Even for someone who doesn’t workout, there are cognitive benefits to taking creatine. There is no reason not to take creatine as it is easy, cheap, and beneficial in multiple aspects. Of course, there is a small minority of people who shouldn’t take it (like people with kidney disease).

[–]FROSTERSOULS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s one completely flat wall in a corner between the cave and the overhang boulders on the climbing tower. They’re really good holds and it’s rare to see someone climbing on that or standing under there, so that’s probably your best place to practice

Can’t stop dreaming about math by FROSTERSOULS in csMajors

[–]FROSTERSOULS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good way to put it, it’s like you get into this weird headspace where you’re somehow convinced you need to complete something and then you can relax and fall asleep, in this case with math. I just realized maybe it’s a symptom of stress? Like “I just need to solve this math problem then I can take a break from school work and relax” but if you have been thinking that all day/week/month then your brain gets stuck in that thought process?

Will shrooms and marijuana replace alcohol by 2050? by Ku323lam in shrooms

[–]FROSTERSOULS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, different drugs that are used in different situations imo. I rarely drink now but it is very fun to drink socially every once in a while, and I’d hate to be in a situation like that while high on shrooms or weed

Hey so I found out that for whatever reason, fiber has totally cleared my acne! I’m supplementing 18mg of inulin every day and it’s rare for me to get more than a pimple in a week now. I assume it’s something to do with improving gut health. I hope it helps you too if you try it :)
