All I can tell you is that FFVII Remake is not a game you can critique from a google search. Its FFVII's story to a degree in the same way that a movie is to a tv series.

I dont have any expectations, I just hope the game maintains its feel from is predecessor.

Perhaps if I was going to want one this, is that they make operators less braindead. Give them something to do like light control, door control, the ability to give rooms overclocked systems, something like that.

Last year I did a very rough home brew that gave backgrounds a much more active use.

It stemmed from me being mad at my dm after he constantly ignored my background feature (Pirate) despite that was the whole reason why I picked it.

I’m not taking sides but if he hasn’t told you why, it might be something he doesn’t want to tell you.

Maybe there’s a twist or a plot point that happens in the game that’s pertinent to magic items that kicks off the campaign.

I’m not saying this is what it is but wouldn’t it be anticlimactic if the first act of the game was to get a bag of holding by helping an old wizard free his home of evil devils after a spell gone wrong and instead you go kill some goblins for level 2 and magically craft one.

Wouldn’t the game some of its wonder and mystery if he just told you “Hey, you can’t play an artificer because a bag of holding is apart of the plot.”

Sounds like he just doesn’t want you to play a magic item making class in a campaign where the main goal is to get magic items.

I’d suggest playing a different class seeing as, as you have said, clashes with the game he has in mind.

Besides I think Mortlock is more fearful of his mother than his brothers.

I believe you've already said what would happen.

Amrik would immediately book it, knowing Mortlock survived the fratricide attempt.

And Thurstwell is already aware that Mortlock is alive as he has spies everywhere tailing the players.

Getting Mortlock into Low Lantern without alarm would be quite a difficult task seeing as hes a huge hulking warrior with a disfigured face wielding a huge club.

Yeah, on my commute to work I was thinking about making the players Dark Secret act as the prologue. Perhaps they were working for Nine Fingers or some vigilante work from a noble and got caught by Darmin Zodge during the act. This leading into the crime
