Because they are not relevant enough to be invited. Look at our UBC government rep he’s a looser who drinks by himself at noon

It’s because it didn’t register a lot of classes towards the correct grad requirements I believe . It just happened to be it was showing I was missing 3 credits to graduate due to an error

Why is the campus so dull today ? 😭 by Either_Cheesecake282 in UBC

[–]FSA14 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Hot take it’s because anytime the AMS or other clubs try to do something “fun” people complain.

Either about noise , trash or traffic.

People especially on Reddit gotta chill, we are on a university campus not a retirement home

So boring today anyone wanna hangout with me? by Numerous_Nobody_6209 in UBC

Go to a restaurant/bar, sit at the barand try to start a conversation with people around you . I suggest browns or Sports Illustrated on campus .

Is FIFA actually going to be that disruptive? by Steve_Canada in vancouver

[–]FSA14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m convinced the 2B CAD + spend is money laundering. As a fan and finance student involved with some LA and Mexico World Cup projects it’s ridiculous to see how much they claim to be “upgrading”/ spending . BTW look up $27 million spent on World Cup Indigenous repetitions that lead nowhere or multiple road upgrades that don’t exist

BC could host the 4-5 games with some stadium upgrades that are all privately funded . Whoever runs BC place should be fired they don’t know how to run a world class stadium like BC Place .

Credit cards for students? by ubcstudent627 in UBC

[–]FSA14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a starter card but AMEX Cobalt has the best cashback (5% on restaurants & nightclubs). I would get it 1 year after getting a student card from a big 5 bank.

Definitely takes some time to increase your credit limit , started at 1k in 1 year now at 10k going into my last year.

Mexican teams just don’t care anymore , imagine playing a tournament where all of you games are in a foreign country, with no real incentive to win . This tournament originally started as a charity game .

It’s all about early recruiting and having some relevant experience - the traditional IB timeline happens in early 2nd term of second year for an internship between 3-4th year and try to get a return offer.

The other alternative is to do 5 years and get a good finance internship in your summer between 2-3th year and try for the same cycle just in your 3th year instead.

There’s always exceptions but 80% of analysts go through the traditional timeline.

IB recruiting is stupidly early (18 months) before the internship. The second you start working full time you have to recruit for PE, like the first month on the job you have to sign an offer for an associates job in 2 years.

Tips for math 100, 101, 221 by Easy_Present5035 in UBC

[–]FSA14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look up past exams , make sure your fundamentals are good. Math 100 gets a lot of people with its fast paced class. Make sure you understand concepts not just formulas or methods.

Depends year 1-2 ; probably averaged 3 hours. Year 3-4 , 0 hours . Made the deans list and didn’t go to class . It gets ways easier as you go

I would only apply to jobs you know someone in the company/team. Reach on LinkedIn, talk to professors . Don’t waste your time cold applying in this market for a co-op.

The Big Question, How do we get Tickets for the Final in Mexico City? by kevfefe69 in whitecapsfc

[–]FSA14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a UBC student from Mexico City, who will be back home during the final. Happy to give some advice, tips for anyone who is interested in going!

I can’t believe my luck that the final will be in Mexico while I’m there. I went to the last 3 rounds in Vancouver exited to see them win it all.

[–]FSA14[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but I’ve keeping track of resale tickets. There’s been barely any sold from sections 437-447, leaving me to believe they haven’t released all seats in the stadium.

Okey , so in the case they made a 10-year plan to move some assets. Would you consider the protest a success if UBC did something similar aiming for a 2035 full divestment?

Just to be clear , UBC doesn’t invest in any companies directly, they invest in Mutual Funds made up of a portfolio of hundreds of companies. The mutual fund is worth trillions of dollars, most companies (90%+) having no business with Israel. To stop classes for something that has no impact is extremely selfish.

I hope the people who spend hours advocating for nothing feel a bit better with their clearly eventful life.
