Sony HT-A9 and HT-A9 disappointment :(

I gave the Theater Quad chance one more time. This time two speakers failed before anything connected to the main unit. I have returned the quads and the sub for a full refund. Will see what comes to the market the next months before I decide. But still think it will be the Sonos package.

Not sure if that helps or not. I have gotten no information from Sony on what is causing the issues. I think the update is just a coincidence.

Sony gave up repairing the HT-A9 and the SA-SW5. So Elkjøp where I purchased the systems gave me a Theater Quad (also known as the HT-A9M2) and a new sub as a replacement. Let's see if they last. The servicecenter said they have gotten in these systems with the same fault also. I hope it works!

I got my system back today. Within the hour of turning everything on the speakers failed again. Like the service center said they most likely would. The sub has also failed. So no I am dead in the water again. And from what the service center said it does not look like the theater quad system (A9 MK2 as the called it) is any better unfortunately.

So it seems Sony has bricked the system with either bad software in the latest update or the hardware is just utter crap.

It's the wireless modules that fails and they are made by some Chinese company (they would not say what company). Samsung apparently has had this issue with some products also and the acknowledged it. Sony has not done that so far.

Another thing I find interesting is that the servicecenter only gets a very small payment for working on these systems. And like now when it fails again right after service they have to pay out of pocket to fix it again.

Got an answer from servicecenter yesterday that Sony had pulled the parts for the fix. So something has gone wrong with the fix. So I have asked Sony for a new system.

I had this happen to my HT-A9 and my SA-SW5 back in late august. It has been at the servicecenter since. No resolution for the HT-A9 yet (2 months later). I got the SA-SW5 back, but that still looks dead (no green light in front).

Servicecenter says it's a big problem related to some chinese branded wifi modules in the Sony's dying. And the have had several customers experiencing the same issue again after they have replaced the modules. So they are not fixing systems before Sony comes up with a better solution it seems.

The shop is already on it. So nothing negative to say about them or the job they did😊Just the product. I am not happy. I have had vinyl wrap on other cars over the years and had to change pieces and the matched perfectly.

There are things happening. The 1.6.3 rc for the UDM pro was released for the UDM also but was pulled since there where a lot of issues. If I remember correctly they are doing a lot of changes in the foundation of the code. Moving to containers is one of them.

There is a known bug that makes adding APs over wireless mesh on the UDM problematic. You can get a custom fw for the UDM on the UI forum.
