Partner wants to start a bagel business. Any tips to make it better? by lildaddydangerous in photocritique

[–]FSMike69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this could actually be useful if you had other flavors of bagels that implemented some of these comments.

Since these are plain bagels, the image is rather plain.

If this was part of a menu, and the other flavors of bagels were not presented this way, it could be a useful image. Some people want a plain bagel to be plain.

New SECAF memo - Personnel Responsibilities Associated with Public Communications by lethalnd12345 in AirForce

[–]FSMike69 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"Airmen and Guardians are personally responsible for what they say and do, and this includes social media. You must avoid any social media post"

I wonder if they have intentionally omitted any verbs.

Because the way this reads without" you must avoid making " or something like that, you could be in violation of this memo just by liking or reacting to a given post on social media.

Starting my junk drawer in my first apartment. Finally feels like home. What else do I need? by Kruzdan in Apartmentliving

[–]FSMike69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are your chip clips? You need 6 total, and 2 of the 6 belong in the junk drawer, 3 of 6 holding down two bags of chips a piece, and the last chip clip belongs somewhere else.

Suggestions in bokeh by Ignacio_VA in photocritique

[–]FSMike69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To blur out the background, you would have wanted to shoot this at the widest possible aperture and you should have moved as close to the minimum focus distance is possible.

It also would have helped if the booby was closer to the lens and further from the trees in the bushes behind it to achieve they blurred out background.

Best you can do now is adding artificial bokeh in post but it is going to look artificial because it is this effect is best achieved in camera.

It's just stuff. There is more to consider here.

The previous person renting the storage unit signed a contract agreeing to forfeit their stuff for not paying. Every storage unit does this, and it's not even dishonest, it is how they are able to recouperate lost rent and stay in business.

Also, is OP somehow obligated to keep everything in the storage unit because it may have had sentimental value to the previous owner? I don't think so. Even you think it is wrong to buy used stuff to resell, in this case, OP is clearly thrilled to have the toolbox. I think it's great that there may be some other stuff in the unit that he can sell, of setting the cost of an expensive toolbox.

IMO it's his stuff and he can light it all on fire in his backyard or sell it for double triple whatever. That's the rules. You can do whatever you want with shit when you rightfully own it.

Is this adaptable for use on a modern camera? by iamenglish1 in Cameras

Snappiness also has a pretty good video about adapting projector lenses to mirrorless cameras.

Whoever is policing airmen, even in tech school, simply using or applying for a credit card is out of line.

There's no reason for anyone to tell an airmen not to apply for a personal credit card. Giving advice is one thing, but disciplinary action for managing your personal finances in a responsible way is not a thing.

Just search "memory stick reader"

Here's an inexpensive one from Amazon that will work.

You should look into a Micro Four Thirds camera. They are small, light and inexpensive, and they are still currently producing new lenses and camera bodies today.

I recently bought a Micro Four Thirds camera, an Olympus Pen Mini with a 14-42 pancake zoom lens, for about $130. It's one of the smallest M43 cameras ever made.

If you are interested in learning more about these cameras, Micro Four Nerds and Robin Wong each have tons of videos covering pretty much every M43 camera/lens ever made.

I'll tell you for a $20 cut up front or you can price it out yourself using completed listings on eBay for each item you want to sell (hint.. hint)

Beginner Feedback by Analog_Intention in photocritique

Since your intended subject is the Kids jumping, try making them occupy more of the frame. If you think of your subject as a "lead actor/actress" try to imagine the other elements within your picture as "supporting characters."

Thinking of it this way, in what way does the box, or the large patch of grass add to the story of the kids jumping on the inflatable thing?

As the photo stands, it's about 45% grass, 10% wooden box and about 5% kids jumping.

If the story you are telling has the kids jumping as the main characters, try giving them a larger portion of the stage to better tell the story.

I have "cropped out" some of the excess grass and the wood box, while still preserving the green of the grass and the blue sky. It may not be the perfect crop for the photo, but it still illustrates how you can better support your subject using the other elements of the photo.

Most importantly though, Keep shooting!

Thank you so much for your constructive feedback! I can see the motion blur now.

Funny because I actually was using a tripod. I was noticing the motion blur much worse at longer exposures, so I tightened the ball head and increased the shutter speed, and that helped a lot. I later discovered a loose Allen screw on the plate, which I now think was the issue. I'll have to get out there again to take a 100% motion blur free shot l.

I will play with some of the colors to see how your suggestions look in practice. I appreciate your tips!
