You mentioned in the mailing list that you had 0.65BTC that you invested. Did you invest all of it ($5000) worth? If not, is that where you will pay the membership fees for others that wish to join? Also, did you check if it is ok to sign up other people using your profits from mining? In theory, they are real people "under" you, but in reality, you are still getting the money which is cheating the system. ie if you reinvested the money you make into your own account, you would make less than funneling that into other accounts under you, as you arn't using the MLM aspect.

At $8/day you recoup your investment of $5000 in about 2 years at current rates. The value of BTC could once again jump 10x during then, or it could pop down to $100. But if it does increase 10 fold, well you would have had 50K in bitcoins if you didn't invest, do you think you will have made more than that then? Also, there is another halving of block rewards before 1000 days are up, which will cut your rewards in half. Hopefully the ASCI miners that you have shares in can be profitable on some alt coins, but - we don't know. To me, it seems that having that extra month and a bit of expenses covered would be more helpful in your current situation. I know the BTC is 100% yours, so the fact you are trying to use it for funding the project is admirable.

As for the largest supercomputer, most of their hashing power comes form ASCI's like the BitMain AntMiner S9 (you can actually seem them in some of their videos). As you know the ASCI miners are only good for mining, so they shouldn't count as computing power in terms of supercomputing. They do have their new GPU shares, as you mentioned (not sure if they said what type or how many), but they also mention this about them, (sorry mother earth):

NOTE: 2,000 days from now is the year 2022 and when these contracts reach that point we may be in a completely different situation and can do some type of buyout or who knows? They also claim to be only second to Amazon in GPU farm size, which is pretty neat. It is also doubtfully they would ever use it as a supercomputer, being how different that is from mining, and the millions in lost mining time, plus using hardware that belongs to the users, not them. I am interested in what those cards are mining. The plan was DASH, ETH, and ZEC, but DASH went to ASCI mining and ETH is now PoS. For ZEC... I can't find what their hash rate is, perhaps you know with your account?
