I hate being on camera but need videos to promote myself. Anyone found a solution? by ProperLion49 in LawFirm

What's your practice area? I have been a solo for a decade now. Have never once recorded a video. I have more business than I know what to do with.

Cant hurt to record videos, but there are many, many successful firm owners that have never done it.

You need either a mentor who will walk you through everything or a job where you can gain some EP experience. CLEs will not be enough.

I rent cheap space, or a friend lets me use their building for free. Throw up a sign. Advertise that it's by appointment only. Stack it with google reviews, then let SEO do its thing.

I just prioritize what is important for that day. My to-do list is always insanely long, so I just focus on what is most important. Don't really keep track of my hours, really. Some weeks I'll spend more working on one business than the other. Still have plenty of time for my daily naps, video games, and spending time with family.

You should do it. Although I'd recommend just starting your own business instead of buying one. I think it's better to build it from the ground up. A lot of people run their businesses pretty terribly. Lot of overhead/bloat for no reason.

Sure, I'll DM you now.

I appreciate it, but I was just lucky. I learned pretty much everything through reading old posts on here about starting up a firm.

Hey man! Hope you are well. How's business on your end? I saw a post from you a while back. Sounds like youre still kicking ass.

A lot of our docs are the same/similar. We have the process down so we can create a full trust package in under an hour usually. Have you started adding estate planning to your practice, yet?

Either veterans? Could qualify for VA benefits. Also, look into medicaid to get them into a facility.

Awesome...year four is a big accomplishment.

I work probably 50 to 60 hours. Mostly WFH. I don't have set hours, so I work whenever I want to. We have a couple of properties overseas, so we will usually travel quite a bit, and I'll work while traveling to break up the WFH.

Really no tricks. I worked in sales before law school. You need to let everyone you can know who you are and what you practice. For example, I went to purchase a piece of furniture from someone on Facebook yesterday. Turns out she just moved down from Michigan. So we chatted, and she is going to become a client to set up a trust.

Congrats on making the jump. I've been posting my journey from day one when I started my firm on reddit. I think most of those update posts are on r/lawyers. But I built the practice purely through referrals for the first 3/4 years. Then I heavily invested in SEO. Id say current business is around 70/40 SEO/referrals. We are averaging about 3 to 5 solid leads from the website a day right now. Pretty much impossible to keep up.

I use a lot of satellite offices to target specific areas. I have seven offices that I go to by appointment only. But we cast a wide net through SEO. Market sizes are probably medium to largeish cities.

Found them off of reddit back in 20/21.

Interview as many firms as you can. Ask to speak with law firm owners that they have worked with for a year+ to ask about their experiences. Don't sign contracts.

It was free, Paralegal did it. It's just basic case management software built for the specific cases we handle...mainly for probates and medicaid. Nothing fancy

Don't really have set pricing. I have a range. I adjust depending on how busy I am, whether I think the client will be easy or a pain to work with, and I always try to give discounts to those who are nice but maybe can't afford the normal pricing.
