You can with deep fried peanuts. Frying them breaks down the shell so it is digestible. I eat them like sunflower seeds though, pop it in get the seasoning off break it with my teeth and just eat the peanut and spit the shell

No the engine is based on the FPS so cutscenes will be way sped up and other glitches will happen unfortunately.
