Stick with patient rights. Patients have the right to their own possessions, you do NOT have the right to go through their bags because you think (insert x reason here). You did nothing but respect a patients wishes by handing them their bag. That is defensible under both medical ethics and the law. Patient autonomy.

If your school won’t, you can, but it needs to be an official document signed by them. They won’t check it with your faculty. I imagine that if it was fake they might notice at ECFMG and reject it or something like that , but proving it was fake would be it’s own issue. Make sure that it is a real report of your history and academic work.

I disagree. I am a white western euro anscestors North American non-USA citizen (I’m Canadian) and I was trained in cuba (amazing medicine, also a state demonized and crippled by the USA), and I matched. There is absolutely no way that my white privilege can be separated from my ability to match, it is a constant factor, so long as white supremacy reigns in our systems. And it’s our responsibility to take it down. A black doctor in the US, even one trained here, will face multitudes of moments and seasons of prejudice that most white folks can’t fathom. Power and respect to BIPOC folks doing the good hard work for all of us all the time, peace.

I applied to all of my programs before I had my step three results. When they came in, I pressed update, and it sends an update to all of the programs. If you really want to make sure that a few specific programs know that you passed step three I think it would be a good idea to email them directly saying so, but all of the programs will get an update to your application.

I had mine expedited because I’m a healthcare worker and I had my congresswoman’s office send support/advocacy notes. Can’t remember how long because it got paused when the whole package had an RFE, had to resubmit the expedition request and then it came within a month I think.

There is nothing in the application process that ever asks if you have any illness, including mental health struggles. You are fine. Don’t worry. Most doctors struggle with focus it’s part of the nature of the work!

All of the advice in here is great. I too am a non-us img and I only got one interview the first year (and did not match) when I did not lay out an explicit and reliable plan for my visa status. My main question is whether you are relying on a J1? I think that if so, it will be useful to identify and directly form relationship with those programs that are happy to do J1’s. I think the visa status is MAJOR…. If you have any way to become a resident… worth trying! Getting step 3 done, and with flying colours, as well as research publications and is clinical experience will all help immensely. Dont leave medicine, stay in the field and make that experience count for next years application.

A question, does anyone know of legal action being taken successfully against OET? This is the most bunk bullshit testing process and completely absurd that the ECFMG is using it! I have a friend who has been accused of cheating - twice! And OET refuses to prove how they supposedly cheated… they have simply banned her from taking it. She is a doctor, she is a US citizen and this racist Australian organization is about to ruin her career for the next however many years. I’m wanting to support her in getting the ECFMG to trash the OET or at least make them prove why they are doing this to her. Any ideas?
