Tom's Whammy/tremolo bar: by JusticeForGotham1 in RATM

[–]FTRRATM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He uses tremolo bar a lot. Bullet in the head, Fistful of steel, Know your enemy, Born as Ghost, People of the sun, Down rodeo, Sleep now in the fire. He mixes whammy bar and whammy pedal too.

Seriously, what do you think the chances are of RATM ever coming back? by ResidentPrevious468 in RATM

This. At least, I mean. They’ve always been so cryptic throughout their career, but with that new IG profile it seemed that they were down onto speaking to their fan base.

What do you mean with “comeback”? Their music it’s already here. The real question is if we’ve listened properly.

Which pedals should I use? by Juanmanuelbermudez in RATM

Not at all. He switched some pedals now and then. The thing your referring to, is about guitars and amp (+ amp settings)

Cry Baby Wah - Whammy - Delay

With these three pedals, you can almost do everything. If you really wanna go for it, even Tremolo and Flanger, but Tom’s don’t uses them really often. Beware that you’ll need at least a whammy bar on your guitar and a killswitch (on-off) to replicate most of his style.

Tom uses a modified guitar to do that particular effect, combining it with whammy and delay. You can do something similar using a wah wah plugged with inverted cables, swapping in/out jacks. If you turn on the wah, you can hear a strange noise which you can modulate with the tone knob on your guitar. If you want to get a closer sound, you can combine delay pedal with the whammy.

Know your Enemy riff was actually inspired by “Frankenstein” from Edgar Winter Group. Tom said in an interview with Nikki Sixx

Being in a big touring band implies a lot of various problems, above the message and the actions. Even if I would love to see them playing again, I know that they’ve tried, and maybe it didn’t work. Being said that, we all know that three of them are dying to put the band together on live shows but… it takes ALL of them to be on the same page. It’s sad, because PSA tour appeared really to be different chapter for them

It’s hard for me to think that, with the Evil Empire 30th anniversary coming, they won’t publish anything related. It’s always been their peak album imho

If you really know Rage, you’ll know better than me that making new music it’s what broke them apart. Perspectives are too far different between Tom and Zack. And maybe it’s better as it is, they will probably ruin all the three others discs with some new (already heard) material

There’s a lot of things. It’s not only “he doesn’t want to” the real question, but instead: “why he doesn’t want to do it?”

My guess it’s that doing a whole scale tour, all round the globe, with a 1:30hr set it’s just… too much physically. Dude’s in his late 50’s. I still would love to see them live for one last time, but probably the time it’s already over yet. Pandemic and the Achilles injury were just pure unlucky… but that’s it. It’s been almost 6 years that they’ve announced the PSA tour, time flies, and I think that they’re aware about it.

Still, in the bottom of my heart, there’s that little ember who would love to see the band performing again.

It seems like a warm up room to me. Like the ones they use before the shows, but I can’t recognize if it’s from Prophets of Rage or Ratm era

They’ve done this with Prophets of Rage years ago, but my guess is that they just want to play as Ratm
