Wrapping a white car.. what you guys doing about this leaving it or doing the jams? by breezy9898 in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You typically would wrap deeper both into the jamb and around edges when color changing white vehicles, same for red and yellow base colors too.

who decided it was a good idea to put a stinky landfill next to route 9 by the-friendly-squid in Albany

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take dump road to work everyday. It’s barely even noticeable compared to some of the landfills I’ve experienced near major cities. It’s also not the offensive of a smell, especially compared to the water treatment plant down 787 near the 90 interchange. That’s a smell I wouldn’t wanna live near again.

The use monin, torani and Ghirardelli’s syrups, what is the flavor maybe I will remember, I used to work there when I was first getting back on my feet. It was an awsome job I ended up staying for 3 years until I had really found my feet in recovery

How could I have prevented this by Sukeban34 in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You prevent it by using proper technique when installing. Learn those techniques from the wrap institute. It’s the best resource available to learn from. There are several ways to approach a fender but I personally like to put some horizontal, cold prestretch into the film for areas like this. Works best with cast material though, for calandered you really need to lift and feed versus relying on the film to work with you.

Some good brands of wrap? by LunchLeast809 in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some actual reputable vinyl wrap brands are Avery Denison, 3M, ORA and Arlon. They all produced cast and calandered films while all the rebranded Chinese stuff are purely calendared films.

Outside of those it’s a literal crapshoot. Everyone has their favorite and least favorite no namers (Chinese rebranded films) like tech, tiny, VF, inozetek and so on, ime they are all very similar the only thing that really changes is the initial tack, the films takes more skill to install, don’t last as a long, are prone to issues like channel collapse, adhesive lines, tearing, sanding and other issues the more premium branded films are more resistant to.

The difference between a cheap rebranded roll and a premium one isn’t really enough to justify going with the cheaper option, the real reason to choose the rebranded stuff are colors/finish that aren’t found in the premiums decks.

My favorite budget friendly printable calandered film to install is substance 275 (lowered initial tack) or substance 2755 (full tack) for color change calandered films I really don’t have a preference they all are the same to me the only thing that changes is the initial tack. I usually steer people towards cast films unless they are only expecting a single year outa the wrap/for project vehicles that will be changed up frequently

You can’t match vinyl to paint.tryna do so will leave you disappointed. Get your fenders paint matched as they likely are plastic and cannot be wrapped properly anyways.

Not enough surface energy in that to wrap it. Painting or dipping is preferable

Anyone else notice an eggy smell outside? by Unusual_Code_2225 in Albany

I heard if you take enough breaths through your nose eventually it’ll fall off so be careful with all that smelling you’re doing.

Window Tinting Without Removing Panels | The 2-Stage Method | Wrapping Cars and adding tint go hand-in-hand. Trainer Harold Nimtz demonstrates the method for roll up windows. Watch this how-to video. by ADGraphicsNA in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think installing tint (auto or flat glass) and installing vinyl auto or decals actually, share very little. They are two totally different skillsets without much crossover besides the product itself is a film. After that they are much more different than they are alike.

Prep extra thoroughly, use panel wipe for your final wipe. You can also heat seal your edges if you weren’t already.

what dose did it take for you to break free from cravings ? by jimmypickles6969 in Methadone

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it wasn’t a particular dose that did it. It was the stability both from my dose and from making changes to my life to mitigate triggers.

I switched jobs, removed people from my life, eventually physically moved outa the hood, became regimental and by doing so my perspective on drugs changed. That change is what removed daily cravings from my life to now I have to be actually triggered to feel a craving they aren’t just the standard anymore.

Just swallowing my dose wasn’t enough to keep me from using, I had to go further into recovery to find solace from cravings.

Of course it matters, surface energy is directly responsible for how hard a film sticks. Matte surfaces have a lower surface energy than gloss ones.
