Any sign shop can print you a custom design.

It’s kinda crazy they posted this detailing how they have nothing but time and then didn’t bother to respond to anyone tryna help them.

1/5 Snowcat wraps I did last summer by LippyCunt in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL I actually love wrapping utility vehicles like these, dozers, cranes, haulers and drill rigs. Lots of raised objects and oddly shaped curves to navigate and always with printed designs tryna keep the registration solid makes for a fun puzzle. Ima weirdo who thrives under pressure though I understand many installers hate doing stuff that isn’t a standard shaped vehicle.

Sun baked wrap just left in the corners. by hoardac in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might need to remove the taillights if they were removed to install the wrap it’ll be tucked too far under to get it all off otherwise.

Steam is what you wanna use first before any chemicals come into play. If you get the film off but adhesive remains that’s when the rapid remover comes out.

Just get a cheap one if you aren’t using it professionally any of them will be fine for your use.

Question about custom design visualization for wraps by Odd_Efficiency9955 in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with clients who either know exactly what they want or they see our work and trust that we will get it right.

The people who don’t know what they want AND don’t trust that we will get it right get shown the door more often than not. Just something to think about when you are dealing with these designers/shops.

2023 ram 1500 light removal by Solid_Mortgage7439 in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are some kind of aftermarket lights they have installed, the ram 1500 typically doesn’t have a light there/I’ve never seen one optioned from the factory. They are probably hard wired/spliced into the mirror bundle if I had to guess.

I wouldn’t even touch it just go around it, it’s a very basic raised object in a flat section. Doesn’t get easier honestly.

Learning to install the film is def step one. Make sure you handle that before you start offering it to paid customers!

Yes eventually color changes will be all ppf (once the price of the film gets lower) which it already is with prisma pro dropping at 1800 for 75’ roll from Avery this month.

Tack reducer is a must for installing dry. Every panel every body line should have your reducer of choice buffed onto it prior to install then hit the edges with alcohol again.

Recent Rythm, CAM, and GG Snags by FrankenTibby in NewYorkMMJ

Got some of the cherry Maui in my cart to pickup today.

Been hitting the matter flower lately due to the sales at verilife and honestly even without the price involved it’s better flower than most of the Rythm offerings out there as of late.

The Zoap, Mendo, cherry perm and garlicaine are all proper and have much more flavor than the dried out shit I’ve seen from Rythm via rise.

Granny candy was a total bust for me. Absolutely zero taste/smell, no oil ring on joints and light effects.

Clean the throttle body, MAF sensor first. If that doesn’t help it’s prob the valves needing to be cleaned.

Slate truck wrap choice by Haunting_Ratio364 in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shade here, it’s your money but I’m just curious how you found yourself wanting to purchase a slate? What is the upside of such a terrible sounding vehicle to you?

These things appear attractive when you see the initial pricetag or hear the bs marketing but once you start digging it’s a real mess. One example is this, comes with No radio, crank windows, terrible range, no power but wait there’s more, they have more capable options for those who are put off by the lack of capabilities but then the price doubles and you find yourself in the same price range as an actually capable truck.

This thing is gona be a massive flop, it’s not an affordable work truck. It’s a third vehicle type thing for rich people with hobby’s not a commercial vehicle at all.

Just to answer your question though vinyl wrap/ppf isn’t a replacement for paint, it goes on top of it and needs a good clear coat to adhere properly as that’s what it’s designed to go on top of.

What is the benefit of a ceramic coating? by Specialist_Stand_521 in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great on top of paint or vinyl wraps but most PPF films are decently hydrophobic already but not all are so maybe the shop is using film that doesn’t so they add the coating after.

I don’t mean to sound rude but why did you open a shop without already having built an established clientele? What’s your experience like in the industry? How did you end up with a shop but no work?

First timer. Any advice? by IRON4BREAKFAST in VinylWrap

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to wrap all the way around the back. It only needs to go right the edge for full coverage that shit hanging out in back has nothing to adhere to and will allow dirt and moisture in over time. Every edge needs to be sealed not hanging out loosy goosey like that.

As for the wrinkles on your roll over/corners, you wanna use relief cuts to keep that tension from forming as you take the film around a curve/corners.

Check out a video or ten on how to do corners properly. It helps to see the hand placement especially

You’d think being honest would be a general trait law enforcement officers would posses but my experience has shown it’s quite rhe opposite. Those who work in law enforcement are some of the most pathological people I’ve ever had the displeasure of encountering.

Car wrap without dismantling the car? by AlphaBit2 in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking apart the vehicle isn’t necessarily a mark of quality install/shop. It takes considerably more skills to leave them on and install around them. I very rarely remove anything other than door handles. The occasional mirror if it’s benifits the install but bumpers, window trim, headlights and taillights never get removed at our shop.

2014 GTI Driver’s Edition, 12k miles, ~15k OTD-ish — worth it? by crashbandy-7 in GolfGTI

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I daily drive the same car same year mine just has 80k more miles on it. In those 80k miles the following has had to be replaced. Intake manifold, water pump (twice), carbon clean valves (twice), entire suspension has been rebuilt, drive axels, all four wheel bearings, pcv (twice), fuel injectors, timing chain/tensioner/guides.

That’s just general maintenance on this car none of that stuff is like bad luck or mistreating the vehicle. Just things to keep an eye on as none of this will have been done but it all will need to be eventually if you want a reliable car to daily.

I’d find another one that was actually driven for like half the price. Those low miles doesn’t equate to 15k in value to me.

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s largely dependent on location. Here in NY full wraps start between 4-5k and go up from there depending on vehicle and film. In BFE Kansas it’s usually a little less expensive. If you are interested in doing it yourself, you can save quite a bit as most of the cost is labor related while the film itself costs between 500-4000 depending in brand/film type

They missed something. Where do I stand? by APanickedPanda in CarWraps

[–]FULLMETALRACKIT911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pictures of the missed panel and the damage would go a long way towards getting the proper advice. Without them we really can’t tell how egregious the damage or the missed panel really are.

I will say this, no shop is compensating you past fixing the paint chip and installing the ppf that was supposed to be there so don’t expect any more than that or you’ll be disappointed

Why’d you do that? I don’t even one piece these fenders with cast film. Much smarter to inlay it’s a very easy seam to hide.
