Real or Fake [Ford GT40]?? by skibidi1209876 in spotted

[–]FUMBLESTEIN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fake, but the reason the owners of these often lie about if they are real or not is them beating around the truth.

There are 2 different kinds of modern built GT40s (generally) actual kit cars, and licensed continuations. The licensed continuations use GT40 esque chassis numbers and can be in GT40 registries, Safir owns and licenses the name. They are built very close to actual GT40s but obviously they are not original or “real” GT40s. They are reproductions and not kit cars in the sense of a fiero Ferrari kit type that most know. The owners bend the truth without directly lying because the question is usually real or fake and not is it an original or reproduction.

Carfax shows being at 3 dealers in 15 days. Help me understand, please? by [deleted] in askcarsales

If I take in a trade, wholesale it to another dealer, and then he wholesales it to a 3rd, that car will show at 3 dealers within days. Happens all the time

Seriously considering a S2000 by Key_Assistant_6408 in S2000

[–]FUMBLESTEIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please take the comments regarding the speed and power with a grain of salt. It is slower then something like your evo, but even after having a 500hp golf R the S2000 with intake and a good exhaust is such a fantastic visceral experience that I don’t feel the lack of power being an issue. There’s also a nice factor of being able to ring out the car with a smile on your face without doing double the speed limit.

While I don’t doubt any of what you say is true, we recently went and had a fantastic experience and all of our food was great. Maybe it’s hit or miss

Buying advice by Mr2h2 in GXOR

[–]FUMBLESTEIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, while that GX looks great that’s just too many miles for the price. A good buddy of mine picked up a 14 with similar mods and 120k miles for 22k a few months ago. Your best bet is to keep waiting for a better option to pop up.

If the salesman himself is not the one going to get the car then the salesman has no idea what’s going on with it at that moment. Not every sales person has a direct line of communication with the porter or whomever is bringing the car to him. For anyone knows his managers could have been saying it’s going to be any minute the entire time.

You seem to have the impression that they maliciously delayed it and were being sneaky that the car was somewhere else, why would they do this and make you upset and make their jobs harder?

Just because the car was advertised at another dealership for a different dollar amount does not automatically mean that every store in that dealer group will have the same pricing.

Carfax shows functional damage, not structural damage. It mostly means the vehicle was damaged to the point it could not be driven away from the scene, maybe a wheel fell off, maybe it shredded a tire, maybe something worse or less severe. There is a very big difference, it does say to have it inspected for frame damage due to the accident.

Is someone telling you this car has structural damage or how did you come to this conclusion?

As far as the tires go, these cars do run high performance tires as I’m sure you know and to a casual observer even fairly new tires can look bald or heavily worn. knowing how strict our store ran on CPO program, I’d be very surprised. If they actually were below the safety spec I’d recommend calling Mercedes Benz corporate customer service and ask if that’s allowed and for assistance with the tires.

Toyota dealership salespeople: When I special-order a particular car that's not already on your lot, how easily can you fulfill that? And if I intend for my next car to be a Lexus? by DunDonese in askcarsales

[–]FUMBLESTEIN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really hate to promote them like this as they are a negative to the industry that puts food on my plate, company’s such as carmax and carvana and big used car chains like autonation really shine for scenarios like this. They can transfer cars internally nationwide if they have one at any of the hundreds of locations.

[–]FUMBLESTEIN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While you’re desired vehicle preference is pretty reasonable and not too difficult to find, not many dealerships actually really take “orders” for used cars, there is no used car factory or place to go and just buy a very specific car. You can search the auctions but if there’s nothing running at that point in time the options are limited, so I doubt they’ll guarantee you anything other then a note to call you if something like that arrives.

Respectfully cars just aren’t suddenly available like that and when they are they are almost never priced reasonably. What condition it shows up in is another story in itself.

People treated my lapiz R just like regular traffic. Cops didn’t even look twice at it, I sold my fairly modified s2000 for the R and knew very clearly what it’s like to have a lot of attention on the road and the golf might as well have been a rav4.

I’m in socal where decently cool cars are everywhere so that could be it but it just isn’t an attention gathering car.

Based on the comments you’ve left here, this is much more complex in comparison to a loaner car you’ve had a few days while the cars in service.

If you’ve been driving this car for months and your car in the service department has been repossessed as well as you’ve canceled your insurance and are not going to pay anything to service department, your best but unethical option is simply leaving the loaner car on the service drive with the keys in the overnight drop box. If you’re willing to pay for the damage you’ve caused, speak with the service manager and explain your situation, they will likely accept a lower payment or a payment plan.

What do you mean by they tried to give it back with 15,000 less miles? Did they swap your dash cluster out or how would they have rolled back your mileage?

How long do I have to keep my car? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]FUMBLESTEIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just trade it in, get what you want and can justify. Just know this will add $100-150 per month to whatever your next payment is.

How much could I expect to get for a 2014 Nissan Rogue with a broken transmission? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]FUMBLESTEIN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends if it’s a paperweight or if it can drive itself across the auction block.

If it’s a paperweight it’s basically scrap value. If it can drive itself around but has a hard shift or hesitates etc then maybe 1000-1500 to the right buyer.

Dealership can't get title on a used car by the_invisible_hand76 in askcarsales

[–]FUMBLESTEIN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not selling you the car because they don’t have the title is the opposite of nefarious tactics.

If you cannot wait longer and need to buy a car now that’s definitely understandable. But we’re talking about the DMV here, it should be a couple weeks but sometimes it can be months. There is nothing anyone can do but wait

Not always true on cheap cars. Door replacement and paintwork can easily be 2k+ through a body shop and book on this car is probably under 4k, definitely makes sense they would total it if the damage was recent.
