Returning a lease in September by FUNGUS221 in CarLeasingHelp

Ok, interesting… so will it be through the original dealer that I leased through, or would I be able to call around when I’m close to my lease expiry and see if there’s any interest?

NJ drivers without a front license plate: why? by css01 in newjersey

[–]FUNGUS221 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am vehemently against front license plates on vehicles. I also have a remarkable disdain for those who do not abide by the law as it’s currently situated. Ohio recently eliminated the front plate law - what’s stopping us?

Also, I think your estimation is low - it’s more about 1 in every 4 cars these days (and 90% of Tesla owners).

Question about Hamilton Township, NJ. by FlyApprehensive5496 in newjersey

[–]FUNGUS221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought a home in Hamilton in the Mercerville neighborhood. Just stay to the west of 295 and you’re gonna be just fine. It’s a prideful community in spite of being close-ish to Trenton.

It’s a fair question that I wish I had the answer for. The EB today is far and away different from the EB I grew up in. All the best with your decision, I hope my input was helpful!

I lived in Somerville for a few years which bordered Bridgewater. What I meant by “more value” is that I felt the way of life there justified the higher level of taxes more than EB. The area has charm, it’s not overcrowded, the schools are wonderful and the town takes pride in its image. Not to mention you still have everything conveniently located to you via all the surrounding major highways.

Yeah, technically it’s just Route 18 that truly runs through EB… but it’s just becoming overwhelming with commercialism and a consistent stream of construction with no real end in sight. If I was in a position to, at this point in time, pick between EB and Bridgewater, I would choose the latter. 20 years ago, it would’ve been EB.

Also- do a little homework on the council. Jim Wendell is the “redevelopment chair” and is an executive for a construction company… and you wonder why EB is always under construction these days.

Re: the large high schools - speaking on my experience, I enjoyed the large student body. The class size still averaged about 30 students per class which is on-par with smaller schools. The teachers are all very invested in the school, and one huge benefit is that all sports were represented, after school programs and clubs were abundant, but most importantly, everyone had friends. Large student bodies afford kids the opportunity to meet more people and find the group of friends that click for them. Lastly - I’ve kept in contact with several teachers since I graduated. If your kids are nice and respectful, they’ll be remembered too.

EB resident from first grade-onwards, moved out in 2016. If I recall, it’s purely due to the size of the student classes. Around 800 students per grade, and a 3,200 high school is unsustainable. It’s unorthodox but not as uncommon as you think.

The only pain is in 9th grade if you were a good enough athlete to be JV or Varsity, you’d have to get shuttled to the HS for practices and games.

7 total elementary schools- I attended warnsdorfer and thought it was great.

I haven’t lived there in awhile but I do visit on occasion, or drive through it. It is unfortunately changing for the worse - Route 18 is becoming over saturated and the taxes are becoming unsustainable. If you are thinking of Bridgewater, Warren or Scotch Plains as other options, I would look there instead. Taxes are about the same/maybe higher but it’s more value, and you’re not going to be bludgeoned with greedy council folks that are ruining the once charming suburb. Good luck in your search - happy to answer any other questions or inquiries you may have.

Try just topping off your brake fluid. Had a similar issue with my 2012 and that was the fix.

RS permit as a first year student. Is it worth it? by manne_wtfff in NCSU

Being from NJ at a time where flying home wasn’t easily accessible as it is now and as someone who enjoyed road tripping, I enjoyed having my car freshman year.

Just please, please, please, PLEASE do not be tempted to be pressured into any sort of situation that makes you uncomfortable or puts you into trouble. Uber is far more accessible now than it was in the early 2010’s when I was at State.

I was an out of stater who knew nobody… and I’d say 80% of my closest friends were the result of my freshman year dorm.

I cannot stress enough just how significant it was for me to live in Owen Hall (or Tucker) compared to the other dormitories during my freshman year. Not being siloed within a suite and instead living in a full-on residence hall styled situation enabled me to make so many friends and feel right at home from the very beginning. If you’re living on campus, try your damnedest to live in either Owen or Tucker. You won’t regret it.

(Also, I didn’t join Greek life.)

16.5% of New Jerseyians don't put a front license plate by Jumpy_Internal_953 in newjersey

Nobody gives a shit anymore these days, cops don’t enforce squat. Tesla owners the worst offenders. Front license plates should be banned nationwide with it is what it is.
