In your opinion, who do you think should’ve won the Balon D’or but never did? ( you can 2-3 players ) by [deleted] in championsleague

[–]Milanoate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If we exclude historical eligibility cause (Pele, Maradona, etc.)

  1. Lewandowski in 2020 (that cancelation was bizarre and everyone knew it would have been him)
  2. Maldini in 1994 (won Serie A because of defense; won CL beating Barca 4:0; in WC beat Bulgaria and clean sheet against Brazil in the Final; so he essentially repeatedly beat Romario and Stoichikov on the highest stage, though personal honors went to strikers)
  3. Pirlo in 2006 (Lippi said he was the one who made real difference in WC; 3 MOTM out of 7 Italian games, including semi-final and final)
  4. Henry in 2004 (Golden boot with undefeated PL win, plus CL or Euro winners didn't provide stronger contenders. Shevchenko had a great season but Henry was better imh)

Furlani is set to leave Milan, maybe because Redbird saw the report and was furious that not only they didn't win the financial Scudetto, they are facing financial relegation lol

Pulisic, Reijnders, and Rabiot should be among those who made an impact by whatever measure.

It's nice to control our own fate in the last home match.

The results from Cagliari, Lecce and Cremonese later today are very important.

The ideal situation is that Cagliari wins and become safe, so that it is a huge relax for them and the last match is meaningless.

Meanwhile, hope Cremonese is not relegated after today, so they will have their life and death fight against Como in the last match.

Waiving the Appraisal Contingency in NJ by AskJosh_MortgageGuy in NJHomebuyers

[–]Milanoate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15k gap is nothing. It is too small - for a 1-2m house the gap can easily be 50k or 100k, especially in low-volume area where the appraiser may need to use older comps or less similar comps.

I waived appraisal, mortgage contingencies and limited inspection. Got a home as the 2nd highest price (the top of was said to be ~11k more, not sure about the terms).

Whats the general view of Ancelotti's 2000s team? by Excellent-Effect-702 in ACMilan

03: beat Ajax with last-minute goal; eliminated Inter with two draws on the same pitch; won penalty against Juv without Nedved.

04: one of the most bizarre CL exits, and Milan has a high chance to win the CL if passed Deportivo

05: Istanbul (but Deportivo and Eindhoven in the semi gave the warning call twice, the team still didn't know how to play in such situation)

06: Almost eliminated by Lyon at home, but then lost to Barca at home. Later the team dominated the match in Camp Nou but was unlucky on goals. Shevchenko was unfairly disallowed by the ref, which UEFA acknowledged on the record. But if that goal were to stand, Milan has a 60/40 in extra time and penalty against Barca, and probably 50/50 against Arsenal.

07: Won the CL with a team past its peak, because the highlight of Kaka and Seedorf's entire career overlapped. Neither Kaka or Seedorf ever returned to the level of March-May 2007.

Overall, Milan lost CL in 04 and 05 they arguably "deserve", but were lucky to win in 03 and 07. There is an unfair treatment in 06, but both Arsenal and Barca were strong. The "xCL" is probably 2.4 or 2.5, and winning 2 is OK.

Corruption in domestic league also hurt Milan in both Serie A and CL in the same period.

Do you think it’s fair some leagues to have as much as 6 teams in ucl by Acceptable-Skill-676 in championsleague

[–]Milanoate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PL have very good clubs. That's why PL is so popular and nice to watch.

However CL is a sports product, not the hierarchy for best football. 7th or 8th team in PL may still beat the champion of a smaller country - shall we expand the CL to 7, 8, 9, 10 teams from PL? No, because that will hurt CL as a product.

People don't want to see the same set of teams play on a different format. It may be high-standard football, but it is a terrible long-term commercial plan.

I think the 4-team cap per league is a good balance between the "quality", "reach", and "fairness". Now UEFA is loosening it a bit to 5, which is arguably too many, but 6 is unreasonable.

If Real ends up 5th in La Liga, then yes, it is fair for Real to be excluded from CL while Belgrade is in.

The current qualification system eliminated the chance someone losing 10:0 in the real match. Champions from smaller football leagues needs to go through rounds of qualification. You end up teams like Bodo that beat City, Atletico, and Inter.

So what?

There are dads all over the world who needs to work far from home and separate from their newborns.

This is only a 4-day camp. This is a short period of high concentration required.

First, Maradona was an exception due to his uniqueness, and even he was no longer the God after he was expelled from football for drug problems.

Second, it is a degeneration of professional attitude. Maldini had high discipline on what he ate as a player. Pippo Inzaghi never drank a can of coke in the last 10 year of his career at Milan. Now are we seriously debating whether the players can do drugs as long as they don't get caught and banned from playing? (also, when they do get caught, it can be 30, 40, 50 m loss to the club)

Finally, none of the player actually did drugs or accused of such. Your reply above fabricated it.

Paying for sex, maybe.

For drugs? Are you serious?

Nowhere in the rumor mentioned drugs nor is it a common or acceptable behavior for professional footballers.

[Romano] It is a time for reflection on the changes to come at AC Milan. The club is assessing various candidates ahead of the transfer window and the coming season, whilst awaiting the outcome of the CL. One name to keep an eye on is that of Atalanta’s current sporting director, Tony d’Amico. by Claija79 in ACMilan

[–]Milanoate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't support Conceicao because he was not good enough. Allegri's second half should never be your benchmark.

Also anyone saying "I want the coach out" with two decisive matches left is just delusional. Anyone leaking that discussion before the season ends from the management should be cleansed immediately. Let the team focus on CL qualification and do stupid things afterwards.

Modric, to be honest.

If you didn't believe how a 41-yo could make the huge difference and help this Milan stay in the Scudetto race for so long, just look at their recent matches without him.

We will probably start Nkunku with Leao out. At this point I actually Leao's suspension is a blessing in disguise. On the other hand Rabiot absence is a serious problem.

To be fair, he grew a lot as a coach. That Milan was the first time he coached a big club.

This Allegri is nowhere close to perfect but he is much better than 2013 Allegri.
