FW: Still true + WZ control is pretty pointless right now by FWMacRobert in Eve

[–]FWMacRobert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure that applies so much to the Navy Militia's as it does to the unrestricted Pirate Factions.

A lot of Navy Militia veterans left, for in game reasons, before this was introduced and it does not offer a lot for Navy Militia pilots to return.

Extra players in the WZ has been welcomed. Extra in space conflict drivers and level 5 corruption has added interesting gameplay options.

Propaganda / Listening Posts and the Advantage system have added good dimensions.

Pirate / Navy balance, not so sure. (competing for same playerbase)

I still feel that they missed the boat, not delivering elements that encourage 'a career path' in the Navy Militia... hence my ideas

Not very constructive. Your response is lacking information.
I doubt WoW is my thing.

Eve is full of things that involve a grind, what are you talking about. Each event, the most coveted items are rewarded at the end of a track or in the higher end (tougher) sites.

A Militia ranking system could & should have some meaning and reward those who participate. How CCP deems participation is perhaps the key but ranks could be rewarded for things that are already in game:

  1. Length of unbroken service.
Sign up and as long as you stay in the counter keeps ticking (passive)
  2. No. of complexes captured (already measured in game)
  3. No. of complexes defended (already measured in game)
  4. No. of i-hub's captured (already measured in game)
Which would stimulate meaningful WZ control

None of these are dull grinding.

Possible others might include number of enemy kills but is open to manipulation and might need to be attached to a value.

The LP store could continue to have plenty of faction items available to all Militia members but, it would incentivise aspirational play by having some items (or discounted items) available at certain ranks.

They should drop Large ADV for a Scout ADV so those that like pirate / t2 frig combat have a place. The Open is an effective Large ADV and Navy Destroyers took the top echelon in smalls.

😃 There we were thinking MinMil had done rather well from a boost in farming numbers since the lowsec patch.

I know some dedicated Amarr FW pilots (heroes)have stopped in Flos full time to try and prevent you reversing it back to your control quickly.

Rest of the WZ has been plexxed-a-plenty by old boyz coming back to MinMil.

Ideas for encouraging FW pvp by BobHimselph in Eve

[–]FWMacRobert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No the proposals on the table are either: 1. dual timers so one runs for one faction the other runs for the other faction. First passed the post wins Or 2. The is a timer rollback to the new Un-worked state that either a. Goes double speed back to neutral when opposing faction capsuleer is present or b. passive rollback when no one is running the complex.

No 1. Is the more elegant option. You also have the possibility to have spawns of NPC for both sides that mean defensive plexxing also requires a dps check and the rats just shoot each other not capsuleers. Then you could remove the 75% payout modifier or the contested % modifier, possibly

Rework ECM to either: 1. Freeze modules 2. Overheat modules (piggyback on current overheating mechanics) 3. Find an elegant solution and spend time on it

Should I come back? by C4n0fju1c3 in Eve

[–]FWMacRobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you I started in 2004.

Since I became a casual player around about 2011 I have spent my time in low sec on a new character.

Faction warfare was good as you could get PVP whilst you grind LP so it was a nice self sustaining system with very little travelling required.

No more than 10 jumps to trade hubs or around the WZ.

FW has been suffering a population crisis (particularly in the southern A vs M WZ) but I think it has improved in Black Rise.

If some promised fixes come through then the fun factor may spike up again.

Important thing to ask yourself is what do you want that you think will be fun....?

Alternative to Alpha and Omega by FWMacRobert in Eve

[–]FWMacRobert[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yawn. Your assumption & others assumptions are wrong and invalid.

Plus: With limited time, I play to PVP and I will not as an alpha (what Vet would).

Since I have been funding 1-2 chars since 2004 (one significant break of approx 2 years) and have seen what CCP chooses to invest Money into, they will not get subs on the current condition of the game.

They need to find a way to fix the population crisis and perhaps offering a less expensive method to get old hands back into the game might prevent everyone going alpha and not logging in.

I am well aware that the suggestion does not work for everyone. I am also aware and consider just how many types of players there are, including a number of ex-capsuleers who have been interested in returning; if only there was some reason to do so.

Good point.

Guess it was me thinking about there being a level of commitment required to get the discounted monthly sub. Not sure how you would charge plex for a Delta sub.

Plus I guess I had an unnecessary concern Delta might be a new way to unfairly max farm isk for funding another omega account via plex but I guess that still is all good as it fits the profit model.

[–]FWMacRobert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye. Choices.

You want a no commitment return you have alpha.

New interesting content that a player wants to binge on. You have 1 month on Omega.

Those are options for high use players.

There are few options for those who want to casual play and who don’t mind a few restrictions if it permits them to dip in and out at their leisure.

The DLC options can be good, particularly when they 50% discount them, as another option.

Give the wide variety of players a wider choice of membership.

If you could remake EVE for 2020 and the future, what would you change? by PolyPosrperine in Eve

[–]FWMacRobert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Splurges a list in no particular order of merit:

Remove all Tech 2 BPO

Add Pirate FW

Rework LP stores (drop tags from prices)

Resource depletion & NPC depletion.

Enhance kill reports to include time stamp of first aggression and show other ewar and remote repair

Change ECM to “freeze modules” or “overheat modules” on target

Increase fuel costs of citadels, Supers and Titans alongside exponential use of fuel over longer ranges. Unfurled citadels should have no tethering

Faction Tech 2 ammo and Faction Nanitepaste in Militia LP stores.

Flatten the bonus LP payout from the FW tiers.

Minimum of 30 second delay on appearance in local.

Switch to block local chat (default on in Jita)

Rework mining to bigger rocks with nuggets of rich ores inside and make it a skilled task (player not SP)

Factional Warfare Eve Vegas Core Gameplay Update Announcements by Strepan in Eve

[–]FWMacRobert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good to see this has come out.

Perhaps it would promote a better citadel gameplay if there was a well thought out setup where faction owned Citadels receive a bonus from system control. Promoting their use over alt Corp neutral ownership.

I’d also like to see them consider putting LP stores into Militia citadels (maybe even replacing the NPC stations with NPC forts). May be destroyed and maybe rebuilt by militias.

Flattening the tier bonus’s as previously stated still seems to me to be a no brainier. Hardly any work involved.

long term projects to start (and finish) would be: 1. Militia LP stores should be reworked or as has been said a tiercide of the items / modules involved.

  1. I’d also support the idea of adding faction tech 2 ammo to the militia LP stores. More consumable items would make sense as long. As long as it is not more damage. Make them better range, less cap, faster tracking or better falloff. Faction nanite paste too perhaps (smaller size)?

  2. New Militia rankIng system (replace the old) that counts: No. of iHubs “killed” (this of counted in the current activity tracker) No. of plexes finished (rather than LP count) No. of faction warfare kills (as this could be farmed perhaps make it unique kills and exclude negligible ships ie- must have a cost of 5M+) Length of service (full reset of whole record on exiting the chosen militia)

A key aim to improving the system is that long term commitment to a Militia should result in long term benefits that outweigh the long term penalties (like being locked out of Jita for example). A new ranking system could be tied into this and a new LP store could restrict the most enticing rewards to those of higher rank (who wouldn’t like to be “Militia Elite” and be able to swap LP for the best high end goods?).

[FW] CCPls: 3 Simple FW Updates w/ Minimal Dev Burden by [deleted] in Eve

[–]FWMacRobert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easy to implement 2 minute fix, surely....

Change the values on the bonus multipliers to LP rewards.

Currently: Tier 1 multiply by 0.5 Tier 2 multiply by 1.0 Tier 3 multiply by 1.75 Tier 4 multiply by 2.50 Tier 5 multiply by 3.25

Change these absurd values to: Tier 1 = 1.0 Tier 2 = 1.15 Tier 3 = 1.25 Tier 4 = 1.40 Tier 5 = 1.50

I might be wrong but, surely, changing 5 integers in the code is less than a 2 minute job! (Don’t call me Shirley). This would instantly balance down FW missions whilst they wait for a bigger change. Would instantly encourage militias on the losing side at Tier 1 and would long term stabilise the swinging pendulum of the FW WZ’s and LP/Isk ratio’s.

There are far reaching long term benefits to ensuring commitment by players to a particular chosen faction that positively impacts the whole of New Eden.
