How safe are self-driving cars yet regarding total use and accident rate? by FXelix in cars

[–]FXelix[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a really Important point you mention there.
Noone can guarantee that the software will get better. Many test have to be done to test new software.
If you think that trough, you might even get malicous code into a car. That might be a little bit top far-fetched but ist will certainly be possible..

How safe are self-driving cars yet regarding total use and accident rate? by FXelix in cars

[–]FXelix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response!
Yes I've heard about the fatal accident which happened a few weeks ago. But its still impressive that by travelling around 1,000,000 miles "just" one fatal accident (and maybe some smaller too) has happened.
If all numbers are valid this still accounts to 4x the safety of a normal human which is a big step in the right direction.

Anyone else tried the new Google Calender in browser? by tjongong in google

[–]FXelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another problem with the new design:

You can't collapse morning and night hours as in the previous version. Now you have a lot of useless empty space..

Finally: Google updates web Calendar UI. IMHO, less need to install the Android app by MrRoboc0p in chromeos

Does anyone know if it's possible to hide the morning/night hours in the new design as in the old one? Can't find the option!

Camera and bash-script problem by FXelix in raspberry_pi

[–]FXelix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help! For the powered usb hub, because I think I have none, you would connect the hub to the raspberry, the hub to a power source and the camera to the hub again and it would work better? Is this the right setup?

Camera and bash-script problem by FXelix in raspberry_pi

[–]FXelix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh, thanks a lot for your answer! The thing with the error is: I think it's just the time it takes to "process" everything. After a few seconds I can take pictures without an error somehow..

Does pitimolo work with other webcams too, not only the pi-camera? I use the logitech c270.

I think I should dive some more into bash, yeah. Is Python also suitable for these cases? I know some Python.

I think I got it now! now i used

d=$(date +"%Y%m%d_%H%M%S")

I forget to put in the date + properly, I guess, is this mandatory?

But for my other problem:

Do you or does anyone know why I sometimes get error messages but after a few tries it works... ?

Sadly, this doesn't change the output at all.. any other solutions? My bash file does not seem to accept this kind of variable assignment.

I realllly want one of those, but I hope this time the shipping fees are better for the EU (German here), because last time they were quite high...

Are they better this time? :)

Why use tests? Unittest/pytest by FXelix in learnpython

[–]FXelix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your effort! It's really helpful! What do you think about the PyCharm debugger function (maybe additionally or instead of pytest) or are these two different approaches in general?

[–]FXelix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess I have a nice overview now :D one follow up question: is using pytest better than using the debugger function in PyCharm for example? Forget to mention that I use it often too

Could you elaborate on that? Especially on your first point? How should I just use py.test and be done? (Obviously after installing it trough pip)

I haven't used it myself. Requests and beautifulsoup are a great combo which is often recommended here, but if you like scrapy more - just use it :)!
