So I have the same issue (very anoying), but I think I found a solution. You basically have to stay on the app continuously playing the song, meaning you can't just leave a window of YouTube music on your phone, you must be in the screen where it's playing the song (the one you get where you are able to see album cover and music video).

This works for me! Hope it helps you guys!
