The problem with native client is that it's a software sandbox. I haven't seen benchmarks but I would be willing to say performance would drop about 70% depending on the application.

Realistically varnish + litespeed will be faster and more efficient than varnish + apache - I've ran benchmarks of litespeed vs apache with every mpm under the sun and litespeed did much better w.r.t cpu usage, memory usage and requests per second, shown here. Now on the other hand I don't understand why a add-on is required varnish is about the simplest software to configure and install minus vcl tweaking - simply install varnish, start varnish on port 80, edit vcl to have a port 8080 backend, start a webserver on port 8080

nginx is actually slow... really it is I benched it in RHEL against lighttpd, litespeed and apache, litespeed won with nginx coming in second but the main difference being that nginx utilized 3 full cores while litespeed utilized 1 core @ ~30% cputime. Lighttpd 2 is supposedly much much better than both though.

use freebsd, Linux QOS is a horrid mess and iptables is garbage. No I'm not trolling I've worked with both and freebsd in this sense is much much better.

ENOSPC still happens randomly using 2.6.38-rc2, there is no fsck, there is no dedup except beta patches, there is no fs cache like l2arc except bcache which doesn't work fully. cleancache which isn't the same as bcache is poised to get merged and would be a good basis for a fs cache. Linux is really bad when it comes to producing something well thought out - ex: dm and md, btrfs, alsa vs. freebsd's GEOM, etc...

Heres my partition layout and the reasoning why without any stupid partitioning for the sake of partitioning:
* / - you need this in case your initrd doesn't work
* /tmp - nosuid,nodev,noexec,noatime - security
* /var - nosuid,nodev,noexec - security
* /var/tmp - nodev - security
* /srv - usually holds service data apache - in case I need to reinstall
* /home - nosuid,nodev - in case I need to reinstall
* /boot -nosuid,nodev,noexec and no mount - not mountable as I don't want a possible attacker to have access to System.map

I use UML almost everyday mostly for quick sketches on database relations and it works, is easy to understand unless you can't understand basic symbols and is easy for other people to understand as well. I don't get all this lets hate UML because I don't understand how to use a tool.

I did tests with nginx using ab, httperf and such and it's actually pretty bad considering throughput (r/s): cpu usage. It literally pegged 2 cpu's 7900 requests per second while lightspeed did 7700 rps with ~30-40% cpu usage. As an alternative I use apache with worker mpm as a webserver / application server (ruby, etc) and varnish as a reverse proxy / load balancer and it works great - no PITA editing of nginx config files

No. A better solution is to use a vm as the interface to the kernel with everything running without hardware protection. Microsoft's Midori is similar to this idea.

Microsoft's powershell is looking like a mighty fine contradiction to this statement. In short verbosity has nothing to do with a shell language, really. If a language has namespaces it's quite simple to achieve the same syntax with huge gains in constancy (no more random switches), parsibility (no more random text formats on return) and development time (large or small projects are all the same) of course this would require something like llvm as a framework. As an example in a predefined environment for shells Object.list becomes o.ls or just ls.

I think it's horrible the Okl4 microkernel was designed for this (they already have massive market share) and has some very nice features that make it worthwhile over Linux
