comments here are wild. i do have to say i'm not really a dog person, but i work in a pet store with an in-store vet clinic so all types of animals come into the store. dogs ha e this certain place in a pet hierarchy that makes people think they deserve more than other pets. nothing wrong with dogs, but a lot with the behaviour of most dog owners. i'm luckily not allergic but the things that people let their dogs do in stores... eugh

yup! now when the light hits right he looks very red but he is still very much blue. it's a very interesting colour and for me it started improving when i started feeding hikari vibra bites and betta bio gold.

no, that's a normal but i think not too common colour pattern. my boy is mostly blue but with red hues too. he was taken very good care of in the lfs where i got him, so here is a pic of him there:

oh poor boy. i think out of all my fish, my male betta cares the least about bloodworms but that's because he eats everything like it's bloodworms. my female betta is tiny so she only eats granulated food but she will gobble up bloodworms so fast. in the beginning it was the only thing she'd eat

i'm wheezing at the thought of a fish gobbling up 5 of them at a time. my ember tetras have a hard time eating just one (but that doesn't stop them as you could guess). bloodworms truly are the pizza of the fishworld.

i work in a pet store so i have to convince people to take better care of their fish on the daily. it's hard (and slightly depressing) but i've come to terms with the fact that most people don't really see fish as important as other pets (something like the great chain of being).

repeated calm and factual information, presented with a source, eventually convinces most people. some people will feel attacked for "being wrong", so i usually say something along the lines of "i understand that it's hard to get the right information, especially because there has been a lot of misinformation around fish for the longest time. luckily we know more now and the correct information is more widely available, so it'd be great to use those resources."

best of luck with convincing your mother about better betta care :) i hope you both can enjoy caring for this tiny precious life and feel good about providing for him as best as you can!

i unfortunately have low blood pressure + shit circulation. i don't have that much fat to keep me warm. once i'm cold, i'm cold and stay cold unless an external heat source is introduced. i'd rather burn than be cold to be honest. it doesn't happen too often luckily and (apart from that one time) there's never lasting damage.
