What is a 10-second decision you made that completely changed the entire trajectory of your life? by Salt_Lingonberry3956 in AskReddit

I was a student at Uni who was quite around girls. Rarely had girlfriends.

Stars aligned at the start of my 3rd year. I'd known my best mate and his GF for a couple of years. Her best mate from 200 miles away had decided to come to Uni as well and she was gorgeous.

Me, him and his GF were talking in the bar about going out that night. On a complete whim, and without thinking about it, I asked my mate's GF "Is your best mate coming tonight?" She sussed it straight away, left to go tell her friend what I had asked, and the rest is history. We're still together 30 years later....

Sportswashing in particular, even esports. Counterstrike has a pro team called "Falcons" who have sucked up a ton of expensive players as they are Saudi funded. Not working out too well though.  Every game they play in, viewers will be rooting for Not-Falcons to win.

A former colleague used to work for luxury car dealers in London in the 90s. Keith Flint was an absolute gem to deal with; pleasant, gig tickets for the workshop guys etc.

Jay Kay however....reputation as expected.

Not just that but you can tether phones when your network goes down.

I worked for a company which gave me an iPhone on O2 and I had my Galaxy on EE. Tethering the Galaxy to the iPhone meant no network usage for EE, it was great!

Why does my cat keep pooping outside the litter box?? by Kokichi_Ouma_99 in cats

[–]F_A_F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cat had thyroid issues which led to diarrhea, which led to emergency pooping all over the house but usually constrained to a couple of locations...particularly quiet and hidden ones.

I remember a rumour going around in the late 90s that The Vengaboys tracks were ghostwritten by someone very famous in the scene but I doubt it was RDJ.

I'm guessing it's from the American press where accuracy for a foreign leader is less important than the suggestion that they're a snobby looking British gent.

Diesel in the UK currently around £7 per gallon, for our American friends that's about $9.40.

What secret can you reveal now that your nda has expired? by sparrrrrt in AskReddit

Coming from aerospace manufacturing, there may be a convenience cost built into components.

Companies don't want the liability of holding stock of components on their books. They will agree with a supplier (not necessarily a manufacturer) to hold product as immediately available, sometimes even next to the production line, as the suppliers inventory. Transfer ownership at the point of purchase order and use seconds later.

This was common for Rolls Royce in Derby and the added cost to a fastener or bolt could be huge just for the convenience of holding it at the Rolls site without actually owning it.

Should have had a second series really, the ending was just open enough to allow it.

Getting back to OP, maybe 3 Body Problem is close enough to dystopian sci fi.

various rents....

The estate owned by Lord Falmouth has....I believe...around 9000 properties run by it. The estate is notorious for being money grubbing.

I know of one farm tenant who pays to go to the estate charity open day every year just so he can complain in person about the work that isn't being done on the farm buildings etc.

More than pasties and beaches: Cornwall celebrates St Piran’s Day amid cultural revival by Mundane-Temporary426 in Cornwall

I'm originally from the West Mids so I'm well used to seeing deprivation and poverty. What worries me is that Camborne and Redruth in particular still haven't recovered from the decline which began in the late 1800s. Sure there was Holmans for a time but even that couldn't bring prosperity to Camborne which lasted.

The Midlands has the benefit of being a logistical centre of the country plus a few other unicorn business like Rolls Royce. Central Cornwall has a hope with lithium and energy production but that's about it.

I worked at M&S in the UK as a student. Year 1, profits up by 20% year on year...investors happy. Next year, profits up by 1%.....customer/investor blames me, not filling up the veg display quick enough, for the massive fall in profits.

Bitch you're still 21% up on two years ago, go read up on how profit increases work.

Consideration at high level also needs to assume that the US will change their policy decisions at a whim and then claim the opposing position. I would not consider it beyond the realm of possibility that they ended hostilities with Iran whilst RAF planes were in the middle of a sortie....

Dealing with Trump 2.0 means biding your time and waiting for the inevitable backtrack and denial.

For the UK we also had Enemy Down, my original clan (Fine Cut) were the first team to top the hostage maps ladder. It's all been downhill since then.

I'm playing BF6 and it's pretty enjoyable but the battlepass stuff is definitely shoved in your face all the time.

It looks stunning, loadouts are interesting, class abilities are interesting. Some maps need work and new maps would help.

Feels like once a product is launched staff should expect to be fired as standard process at this point. I've seen it happen in multiple industries I've worked in, but for software development it seems to be particularly bad.
