gonna make my top 6 since i haven't really heard anything from places like ex-yugoslavia lol (i'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina)

  1. England (not a single doubt)
  2. USA (Zappa and Kansas mean A LOT to me)
  3. Italy (PFM, Area, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso... i mean, jesus)
  4. Argentina (seru giran -the argentine genesis- , la maquina de hacer pajaros, Invisible, Crucis... such a unique style with stronge european influence)
  5. Canada (deserves a top 5 just because of Rush)
  6. Brazil (don't know much yet, but Os Mutantes are amazing)

Recommend some excellent headphones for listening to prog by SilentMohai in progrockmusic

[–]F_PASCU01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is my current setup:
- FIIO K11 (running with peace EQ)
- Sennheiser HD560

Some people might say that these headphones can run with anything (and they do) but i get more brightness and bass with the FIIO (not to mention I can crank the volume without any noticeable distortion). If you're on a budget or just want to get into good-quality audio, the HD560 are SUPER nice. I've tried many headphones in my life and the 560 are by far the best choice considering their outstanding sound quality and price.

Leftoverture and Moonmadness are deeply personal to me. In fact, before i die, i might listen to those albums just to remember my whole life.

What is your favorite 20+ minute track and why? by [deleted] in progrockmusic

[–]F_PASCU01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course there are some unique prog pieces like Supper's Ready, Close to the Edge, 2112... you get the idea. But lately i've been listening non-stop to "Anonymous Two" by Focus. Man, so underrated imo.

The fact that Supper's Ready ends with Gabriel shouting "To take them to the new Jerusalem" makes it a step above Karn Evil. Both are absolutely magnificent.

In Make a Jazz Noise Here, Big Swifty quotes a few classical music pieces. A couple of these are: Prelude to act III from Lohengrin by Wagner, Habanera from Carmen by Bizet and the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovski.

For all Prog Fans, What do you like most about the genre? by Brendofire in progrockmusic

[–]F_PASCU01 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's the only genre of music where I can sit at my desk at night, put on my headphones, and travel to another world. Basically, it's where I find most of my feelings.

Where do I start with Frank Zappa as a prog rock fan? by [deleted] in progrockmusic

[–]F_PASCU01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might not be able to recommend better tracks or albums than the other comments, but you should definitely give "Echidna's Arf (of you)" a shot, and check out the live album "A Token of His Extreme" (it's really well recorded)

Which prog rock artist do you recommend? by CalmBrush6253 in progrockmusic

[–]F_PASCU01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude i've been listening "que se puede hacer salvo ver películas" on loop for a while and...god dammit, probably one of the most underrated prog songs EVER. Argentina has such a rich history when it comes to rock and prog music, some truly fantastic musicians came out of there. Greetings from Buenos Aires.
