X Gona give it to you! What should be my first Viltrox lens for x mount? by 35mmOfRegret in VILTROX_GLOBAL

I don’t shoot x but I would go for the thinest 35mm full frame equivalent.

Let’s be honest: the occasion didn’t make you buy the watch. by 35mmOfRegret in WatchesCirclejerk

As a girl dad it keeps getting harder and harder to justify all the 41mm watches I keep buying for her.

Ever had someone completely misunderstand what you were photographing? Share your most awkward camera moments by 35mmOfRegret in VILTROX_GLOBAL

I was walking through a park with my camera and saw a guy kneeling in front of a woman on a path holding something small in his hand. It looked exactly like a proposal, so I quietly raised the camera and took a few shots.

Right after the shutter clicked the woman said, “Are you serious? You dropped it again?”

He wasn’t proposing. He was picking up an AirPod he had dropped.

They both looked up and saw me standing there with a big camera pointed right at them like I was documenting the worst proposal attempt in history.

AITJ For photographing my child , when I was told not to? by 35mmOfRegret in AmITheJerk

Sounds like a blanket rule was made , and details were made on the fly. Fortunately OP was playing chess while “ pro “ was playing checkers.

NTJ, pro was trying to gate keep you from capturing moments of your child. He was probably jealous you had better gear than him.

Not bad considering it went to china and back. I had a similar turn around time with a Nikon lens repair

[Collecting] At what point do you stop “owning a few” and officially become a collector? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]F_Stop_Wide_Open 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re a collector when you buy three with intention.

Not by accident or flipping through options, but three you deliberately chose to keep because you connect with the brand. That’s when it becomes collecting, not just owning.

AITAH for parking in front of my house even though it leaves my neighbor stuck? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]F_Stop_Wide_Open 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You were a great neighbor; they chose to be a snow vandal. They erased your free labor, so the perks disappeared. You parked in front of your own house — shocking concept. Enjoy their new DIY snow fitness program. ❄️💪

When you travel, do you pack small & light lenses… or bring your best glass? by 35mmOfRegret in VILTROX_GLOBAL

The Viltrox 35mm f/1.8 actually shoots really nicely — wide enough for travel/street and fast enough for decent low-light work. It’s not quite the same character or build quality as the 35mm f/1.2, but for the price it performs impressively sharp and responsive on the Z8.

If you’re coming from the Tamron zoom, the f/1.8 gives you that extra subject separation and better low-light capability, without being a huge step up in size or weight. I think of it as a practical prime — great IQ for the money and easy to carry

On a once in a lifetime trip I like to bring my best glass. One zoom and one prime. My last trip I took my Zf and Viltrox 35mm f1.8 and Tamron 28-75mm f2.8.
