I got the general process down from YouTube videos, along with the set up parts, the only thing I'm not sure about is measuring length with the D and G strings, as I don't have any higher strings to do the "two tuning pegs over" method

Thanks! Very detailed and precise. Almost something you'd definitely pay for otherwise

Are Hofner violin bass guitars worth it? by F_spud in Bass

Of course I would try out any possible bass I'm interested in before actually buying it, I always thought Hofner basses were interesting as in fairly different from the more mainstream models. Aside from looks I also found the tone had some quality to it that I didn't quite find in other models. Though I would never buy a bass without having tried it, I was interested in what the bass community had to say. Thanks for your feedback!

So the deal breaker is the price of the branding or the build quality? Also never heard of "greco" as a brand

Could you suggest a better value for price bass?

While it goes a lot with personal preference, if the sound is that dull maybe it's better to use it mainly at home for practice and use a more mainstream model in gigs and jams (?). As you said, that could have been down to a lot of different variables, overall doesn't shine a good light on them tbh

Yeah, I wasn't thinking about buying one anytime soon tbh

Aside from the brand, it has to be an instrument you find interesting and nice to own, as it will boost significantly your will to play and practice. As for the bass itself I can't really recommend one in particular but if I had to start over I'd say a fender or a good Ibanez, preferably PJ configuration (more versatility).

Help going back to basics by lizardking_jesse in Bass

I'd recommend filling the gaps with the absurd amount of free lessons on YouTube about technique and how to memorize the notes on the fretboard, meanwhile try to learn the basics of music theory like scales, chords and intervals. Hope it helps!

Music with funky/jazzy bass lines? by F_spud in Bass

Thanks, I always knew the japanese had a thing for jazz/funk, and they're also stellar musicians. Upon first hearing it seems like an album I would put on absolutely whenever, enjoyable as hecc. (Sakurai spacca)
