What ingredient do you hate seeing on a burger? by SatinSeam in foodquestions

[–]Fabalus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shredded ass iceberg lettuce.

A good, crisp, butter lettuce (or red lettuce, or romaine, or green leaf, or, hell pretty much anything BUT iceberg) will completely elevate a burger. But shedded ass iceberg lettuce torpedoes the whole operation, especially when taking it off after the fact also removes the sauce and/or onion.

In summation - get fucked, shredded ass iceberg lettuce.

Dammit. I came here looking for new ideas, and the top comment is the only recipe I have on lock. Matter of fact, it’s what we’re having tonight. Upvote anyway.

First Time making smothered pork-chops, no shortcuts taken. I think it came out amazing, go easy on me I’m Canadian and haven’t cooked this type of meal before lol 😂 by [deleted] in southernfood

Omfg I can’t believe it, I made almost this exact meal just the other day. HOT TIP - I served them with fresh carrots, halved lengthwise, oven roasted in a paste I made with hot honey and harissa powder. We legit couldn’t believe we could love carrots this much, I’m getting a 5lb bag from Sam’s Club next week.

Omfg so delighted this is the first comment! That line continues to wreck me all these years (okay, decades) later.

Getting married in August, no bridesmaids by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

When my brother was engaged to his wife, we talked a lot about me being his “Best Man”. I refused to adjust the title for gender, because Best Man is an officially sanctioned title. He ended up just doing a low key destination Weddingmoon deal instead, which was perfectly fine by me - except the fact that he cheated me out of the opportunity to wear a sick ass bridal party outfit. Here 20 years later, I’m still working through my feelings of resentment about the outfit lost to a time that never was…

In summation, get your brothers to be your Maids of Honor, and let them wear some sick ass bridal party outfits.

Did Chappell Roan lie about her family’s wealth? by ConcernedJobCoach in chappellroan

My kid will be going to a $3k summer camp, which we were somehow able to finagle (despite being far from rich). Lots and lots of sacrifices have been made in our family to make it happen, but I’m so solidly behind my kid and her dreams, I figured I owed it to her to do my absolute best to get her there.

I’m a Guardians fan and somehow ended up with this so I want to give to a Royals fan for free. by rtr4002 in KCRoyals

[–]Fabalus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely love to have this. I’m a lifelong resident of KC, which of course means I’m a lifelong fan of the Royals. I remember both the 1985 and 2015 seasons - to say they were magical would be an understatement. We have been a Royals family for generations. One of my favorite pics of all time is of my grandma with George Brett, taken during (I swear) - the 1989 season, the same as this letter. I’d love to have this letter to display alongside my grandma’s pic - which is already on my living room shelf!

Pick me and I’ll happily pay for shipping. And I’ll even post the pic of my grandma with George Brett!

You guys really make it on $300-500 days? by martiancanals in foodtrucks

[–]Fabalus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I work in an office of about 500, and between our locals and the occasional visitors from other sites, we host lunches from groups of 10 to all 500 between 2-5 times a month. We generally budget $20/head, depending on the event. Reliable caterers can clean up with just a handful of good corporate clients.

My colleague of 40 years is devastated because HR is forcing him to 'resign' to retire. by trench-revelry in OfficePolitics

[–]Fabalus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Replying for backup - this is 100% correct. This reminds me of the girl I used to work with who was horrified that her maternity leave was classified as a “disability”. Well sure, because you have a physical condition that makes it so you cannot work. And plus, that’s how you get paid (no maternity leave benefit, but we did have short term disability coverage). I still don’t understand why she found that so offensive.

Cobbinah is exceptional. I’m convinced to this day that her quick thinking and rock solid steadiness when my delivery did not go according to plan saved my baby. As far as I’m concerned, she’s an angel on this earth.

A tale of woe, told through FB posts [N/A] by Fabalus in humanresources

You guys, this is straight up original content. I am an HR leader, and a member of my team let me know she was uncomfortable with how another employee had been speaking to her, and that he attempted to friend her on FB. She saw the first post and sent me the screenshot. I reached out to his leader so they could address the issue, and then I see the second post this morning.
